Carrier Pre-Selection is where the phone calls automatically go through the Tiscalli (in this case) phone network, as opposed to the BT network. All that statement is telling you is, if you want free calls from Tiscalli at the weekend, the calls will be made using tiscalli network. If you don't want this feature, then tell them. Essentially, you shouldn't notice any difference!

I've been having the same problem with.... Dell laptops! Typical Micro$haft, they won't believe you when you try to get it sorted. The cheapest and best solution was "ahem", we bought from eBay, a WGA removal tool. Some might say that was naughty, but in my defence, all our copies of Windows are legal. It used to be "innocent until proven guilty", but microsoft believe in "guilty, because we say so"!!

Dreadful 7 week! 6 weeks holidays worked like a dog (managed 4 days off) This week all the accounts were deleted. I thought I'd solved it... no such luck, so I've had to enter 800 details and account permissions, and add all the computers back to the new domain I had to create. Been coming in at 6 or 7am, and working till gone 8pm every night. Science department "forgot" to tell me that I was supposed to be terminating the 25 network points that the electrician had put the cat5 down for, so one cheeky git, who spent the last 6 weeks in Peru and the Alps wants me to come in at weekend and do the work! Plus I setup 20 new computers for them, however, they forgot to ask for their specific software to be loaded, and can I do that at weekend too.... Guess what my answer was!

It's a good job that we don't have webcams, otherwise you'd see the happy dance of a crazed loon!! It suddenly occured to me.... Volume Shadow Copy Normally volume shadow only backs up shared folders right... but the windows folder (where the AD files reside) is shared (but a hidden share) I copied the old files to a cd, rebooted in safe mode, swopped the files for the "old" ones...... Hey presto! I'd already told the head about the cock up, and told him to expect 20hrs to sort the problem (2 mins per student, 600 students) Looks like I can put my feet up for 20hrs whilst I "fix" the problem. Nice easy week ahead, which I need after the stress of the 6 weeks of chasing contractors)! Phew!!!!!

can I now re-quailfy the help.... Help, the student account details have been deleted..... and we don't have a backup (not high priority on manglement's budget) I'm currently looking for a hole to crawl into!

One of the reasons they like a phone line, is some people have taken to "sharing" their sky cards with friends, so they like to phone the box to see which card is in the slot.
