I think it's the old Hitler world domination thing. Mr Gates has succeeded where Hitler failed. Almost complete control of the worlds computers, and every new OS increases the stranglehold. And the gaul of the company, they don't innovate, they imitate, and where they don't imitate, they create "standards" that no-one else can comply with because they'd be in breach if copyright. Just look at Internet Explorer, only follows the standards for webbrowsers by accident!

how are you blocking the flash Mark?

http://proxy.org/cgi_proxies.shtml a whole site of proxies that the little darlings have discovered!!!

Internet Banning using LanView3? With IE7 you can.
StewartKnight replied to a topic in Wireless Networks
Good old LanViewer3, I use it for so much, yet strangely, not banning the internet! -
I'm not bemoaning my job, I choose (well, the wife did) to come here from industry. The pays not bad, I live across the road, and I get to spend more time with my kids (always a downside eh!) But lets not pretend that for the most part, this is a career, at least not one where you can progress up the greasy pole. All the above experiences were about people who'd LEFT the school for other jobs, or gone into other lines of work. I'm not complaining about my lot in life, but, to claim that an ICT technician can develop a career in desktop & network support is pushing the boundaries a little!

and part of the preperation for this wonderful opportunity, involves salary reviews, which will mean that you get paid less!
-
I wonder what the prices are!

Always makes me laugh when I see the expression When I feel that being in a school is a real dead-end job, I mean, where is the progression path, at best "network manager" and then.......?
-
I had this, it was a virus, and I had to reinstall the OS. I'm not saying thats what you have though. Can you get a dos box up and running? If you can, try this using netsh, a good site explaining this is this one

Just found out that this remote farm only has dial-up access #-o

I've tried those searches Simon, and I didn't have any problem. The connection in Cumbria is the same as Lancs, and ultimately JANET, so I'm assuming that it's not a CLEO problem
-
Has anyone heard of Accipio, and is it any good? Apparently I have to go to a remote farm on Thursday, and show a student / parent how to use it!
-
I assume you mean an ICBM, not an IBM, otherwise, I want a free computer from Seattle as well!

Generally, XP is NTFS, 98 is Fat32, 98 can't read NTFS

works for me, but Sky news is down, still, I can't say that I miss the Murdoch view of the world too much!
-
Have you tried turning it off and turning it on again!
-

If anyone has some they're willing to "donate", I need about 60!!!

Go for DHCP Mark, it's a heck of a lot easier in the long run, I bet you don't really need to know the static IP address of a computer that often anyway, and Securus tells you the name of the computer and it's IP address when someone "offends"

Just when you've passed the XP exam, Microsoft come along and make all your training obsolete!
-
eejit, I got the licence from MS, but we do have a school agreement with them.
-
it took me longer on the phone that it did to download Vista, mut I managed to get a key!
-
Come on give the salesmen a break, how else can they contact us!
-
I've found that it doesn't ask for a key, but you only have 30 days to activate it. My VLK licence renewal is still being processed (Ran out on the 1st November would you believe!!!) I'm tempted to put it on my computer and hope that the licence renewal come through in the next 30 day... but can I risk it! I thought that the licences weren't available until the 30th of November anyway???
-
What I'd like to know is, where have you got the keys from? Can someone PM me please!
