  1. no I don't come back because I live too far away, but I do miss the facilities that we had at Emerald Quay!!!!
  2. anything that works really!
  3. Webman & gecko, neither of your methods worked. What I want is this; The ICT teacher want the kids to produce a form that collects data and stores it in a database. I want a form where the kids create a database with their name as the db name. The fields for the db are setup by the php script once the db has been created. I'm tearing my hair out on what I thought would be a simple thing to achive. I can use the php to create a statically named db, but not a variable.
  4. AARRRRGGGG!!!!!
  5. I'm trying to pass a variable from a form, to create a new database. something like this... I'm using the latest versions of mysql and php. Can anyone tell me how to create a new database using a variable???
  6. I really hate it when people use the word (sic) "kool", Its like saying "yo dude that knarly was totally kool dude, you rock" and other such non-sentances. If I wanted to hear (or read) americanisms, I'd go to America!!
  7. can you ssh onto a smtp server?
  8. I used to live in Shoreham!
  9. No, I think you mis-understood, he wanted to know what the best laptop was, not the best marketed, and best blinged laptop was!!
  10. leave the poor guy alone!
  11. I got 4cd as well, but I downloaded the dvd iso from the MS licensing site instead. The cd's are good, because most of the computers here don't have DVD drives, however, since you need 1gb of ram to reasonably run Vista, I won't be upgrading!!!!
  12. I suggest that you look at the host file and see if that has been tampered with!
  13. why not use the messenger version of Remote Assistance, it worked for me (although the distance wasn't quite as far....)
  14. easy... they wait till I return, or phone, or messenger, or come to my house. Being ill doesn't matter to some members of staff!!!
  15. depends on what you want it for!!!
  16. If the school is prepared to pay, then I'd suggest A, because it's easier to sit in a class and have someone explain it, than snatch a few minutes reading a book here and there whilst trying to unjam printers.
  17. I'm sure he's working hard, marking and stuff......
  18. Damn! Wish you'd told me about that before I handed in my final assignment Simon!!!
  19. you can uninstall the MSDBE and reinstall it (there is a knowledge base article on it) Re-set up the engine, changing the password to whatever you want, log in again as sa! It only takes a couple of minutes to uninstall / install.
  20. I prefer PDA's but having a blackberry is all about bragging rights, which is what teachers are usually concerned about!
  21. I bet the sa password is blank or the name of the school anyway!
  22. nobody has really come up with a good arguement FOR id cards! [rant] Lets say it costs £9bn, what would you rather spend that money on? More police officers? More hospitals? an ineffective useless card with your picture and fingerprint on it? Come on, this money would be thrown hand over fist at IT companies, who'd make a pigs ear of it, and then we'll be asked to pay £90, on the premise that it will stop every manner of affliction that effects society today! Id fraud..... ID card will stop that! Terrorism... ID card will stop that! Benefits fraud.... ID card will stop that! Illegal immigrants.... ID card will stop that! Speeding motorists.... ID card will stop that! I don't think so! Someone explain HOW id cards will solve it, not just telling us it will! I bet the only reason Tony is so keen on them is because George Bush said so! £9bn (at least) WHAT A WASTE OF MY MONEY! (not all £9bn will be paid by me BTW!!) [/rant] Phew... feel better for that and no, I won't sign the petition!
  23. what a tax increase does hit is people in rural areas, who have to travel further to do just about anything, and yet are generally paid less! I don't support trackers, but neither do I support tax rises, and just because a few prats in London drive 4x4's, doesn't mean that there aren't people in rural areas who don't need 4x4's for their daily lives. What I would suggest is larger parking fee's in cities, where public transport is more reliable and other such measures to encourage people not to use their cars if they don't have to.
  24. well, they are offering £75 + £10 towards travel... so how could I refuse!
  25. Has anyone else here been contacted by Iona Firouzabadi to go to this meeting?
