I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you Midget, there are NO provisions to "backup" a comercial DVD, uless explicitly expressed. Technically, what you're doing when you copy a dvd is copyright infringement... not "illegal" as such, but the people who try to enforce it are out to scare you (Hollywood, record labels etc.). You'd only infringe on the copyright if you removed / circumvented the copy protection. If the disc in question had no protection, then, you've done nothing wrong.

Why not set up a premium rate phone line for people to express their views about animated adverts and win prizes... oh... hold on....

I use the book shaped thing, because Orange provide you with an 0845 internet phone number. For wireless though, I use my belkin router because the "live box" is more of a dead box. I have never had a problem with my connection dieing, and I view it as important to have a reliable connection for my Uni coursework / research. Thats my experience anyway!

Sorry Stuey1956, had I know the sense of outrage you felt that I hadn't attempted to review the book, that you clearly view as an estimeed work of literature, I will offer these, my views, for your consideration... The literary style of the book comes across as a smug self congratulatory attempt at making money from stories already published on his website. The stories are long winded, with pointless detail that does not add to the narrative, but encourages the reader to skip over large parts of the text, in order to be able to keep up with the salient points. Whilst one or two of the stories are interesting, the odd one even amusing, the majority of the book is dedicated to the author’s ego, and getting his victims to humiliate themselves for our "entertainment" is particularly seedy. One story in-particular concerns a man, whom our esteemed author convinces into getting a tattoo in order to elicit money from the author. It soon becomes obvious that this is a young man, who wasn't even really trying a 419 scam. The youngster is left in a dire predicament, with his passport seized, no money, and no way of getting home whilst the people from the tattoo parlour, to whom he owns money, are after their pound of flesh. When reading the book, I always had a sense of unease. After this "amusing" tale, this reader had had enough!

I bought the book "greetings in gods name"...... learn from my mistake.... it's rubbish!

The saved location was a pen drive, only shared drives have the previous versions option. And I have the autosave option on Office set to every 10 minutes... so much for that!!!

Actually, this is a Office 2007 problem, the file had existed, but, Orrifice deleted the file.. completely!!!! File was backed up, on the server at work and with a collegue (who wasn't online at the time DOH!). I was at home (it was a Sunday). The final document that I was working on was deleted by Office 2007. It's not that I hadn't saved the document, the document existed, the document didn't come up blank, the whole document was shreded by Office. I blame Office 2007, but I am using it on Vista, and vista really really sucks at the moment, so it might have been Vista, it might have been Office 2007, or it might have been a combination of the two. If only the Uni would accept admissions in different formats! Bossman Have I insulted you in another life, your comments were patronising and, to be blunt, offensive!

Imagine the scene, Sunday afternoon, working on my Uni coursework, which has to be handed in on Monday...... making final correction, hit save Office has an error ](*,) my document deleted for ever! 2500 words disappeared into thin air! I downloaded a "free" recovery utility, but to recover the document you have to pay, I could view it though, so I had to retype the whole damn thing! If I ever get hold of Bill Gates :angryfire:

I couldn't care less, living in a rural area, people like Branson aren't bothered with the likes of us! It annoys me though that Cumbria is the 1st area to go "digital" through a roof top ariel, just as the number of channels is going to be reduced to, well, the number of channels we had before we were all forced into buying a settop box.... I can see the marketing..... "Buy a £100 settop box for all the TV's in your house to receive all the channels you had before we switched them off"

Shadow Copies is easy to setup and well worth doing, although it does have the overhead of using up more disc space.

as mentioned in previous posts, lots of lovely memory is the key (I have 4gb at home), my core2duo is not tasked even when I'm running 3 vm clients, but beware, as I've found harddrive access is a lot slower than the "real" thing.
