I haven't been able to get net send to work since we upgraded to XP!

I've just been given SIMS IEP Writer, to install on a laptop that doesn't connect to the network. Does anyone know if it has to sync with the SIMS database at any point (or constantly)?
-
truth be told, I suspect that the L2 cache is borked!
-
Now I'm sure I know the answer, but does anyone know why my linux computer is saying "Kernal panic - not syncing"? Geoff, I'm looking at you!!

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Chris; it's a sahara projector.... in orange!

I don't think you have to convince OFSTED, it's teaching staff that wouldn't be able to get their head round it. All I have to say is "well done Tony"!!
-
I assume you mean ofsted. I wasn't interviewed when they came, they concentrated solely on teaching staff

Thanks for the help chaps! Capita are sending me a FMS disk, hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

tried that, didn't work! I keep getting an error about the Borland database not being installed
-
I've spoken to the help desk, and they say I need a copy of the cd in order to reinstall. I'll have to wait for that, unless anyones got an iso???

The bursar says that we don't have a CD, it comes from something called Solus

Thanks for the help so far chaps. I've managed to install SIMS, but the finance package isn't there. Am I missing something?

One of the main reasons I decided to leave my old school, was because I was fed up to the back teeth with CMIS. We had loads of problems, and the teacher who organised the "reports" left, and I was landed with doing everything! I hated going into work each day. When we went on some trainng courses, we had a good idea how to use CMIS, but even the "advanced" courses were full of noobs, and by the time they were up to speed, the course was over. They were too keen to get people onto training, without establishing their level of expertise, as they wanted the money. In the end the courses were a waste of time and money, as you never got past the basics. Then there we're the "updates" that required you to re-install every couple of months or so.... I could go on! My "replacement" is off on long term sick, I guess he'd had enough of CMIS too. That was a couple of years ago mind you, so things might have changed now, but whenever my new head says "CMIS", I just say NO I think it's too expensive as well. So long as you're good at php and SQL, you MIGHT be able to find / use the data!

Damn! Already signed up to, and paid for NASA! -
if all it was doing was DHCP, it only take a minute to configure anyway, surely??
-
I'm upset that I missed it, but for some schools (i.e. us in Cumbria), today was the 1st day back, and believe me, there would have been rioting in the streets if I hadn't been there, as the DHCP server had died!

The most random problem that has been reported to you ?

having used CMIS (but not for a year), I always found that you could copy it anywhere, just create a new link to wherever the DB was to be found
