sorry Geoff, but I have to disagree! Set them all to the same SSID, especially if their not WEP'd or whatever. (BTW I don't wep, because the nearest property is far to far away) The "trick" is to make all the channels 6 away from each other,to avoid cross over etc.

It has to be said DB, that you don't pull any punches when it come to be-littleing teachers! My wife is worried about the ICT education the kids receive, when so few teachers have any real knowledge. But to be an ICT teacher, you don't have to understand ICT, you just have to teach what the cirriculum says, and know 1 or 2 products. You've certainly raised a few heckles... yes, I forgot to mention they get an internet ban (I have a spreadsheet setup, so if they get a second ban, I know it has to be longer) Internet bans are also for downloading music & games. Anyone caught trying to "hack" the system is banned from the computers altogether

I had to completely rebuild my network after the jerk who installed it had finished. He was supposed to have come before lunch, turned up @ 7:30 in the evening. I live close by, so I let him in. Came in on Monday morning, he'd disabled DHCP, and reconfigured the routers single NIC (don't ask... used to be a Viglen system), so that it was on his IP range. Trouble was, he'd got the wrong IP for the crashpilot anyway, and messed about with the patch leads in the comms cabinet. 3 days where there was no ICT teaching, and a week without internet! I think I lost a stone in weight!

can anyone findout which schools these "teachers" come from. I'd love the techies to know. What about a thread "teachers with egos larger than their knowledge"!!!!!! IMHO the only people who think teachers know about IT, is teachers. This is obviously about the last school I worked at, and not the current school, where I actually feel valued, and that they rely on my knowledge!

I must admin I struggled to form a coherent sentence from the question, but I suspect that what you want is some way for both networks to talk to each other. If this is the case, what I've done in the past is, get a box with two NICS, one on each IP range. Don't add to a domain, just have a workgroup, and set up a trust. Other wise, could you clarity you question, as we all seem to have different interpretations!!!
