I can code in VME, but since none of you will have heard of it (which is a shame as its' so good (for a mainframe language)), I can code a little in VB6 &.net and come on, who can't use HTML. Now if I could just hone my skills on JavaScript and actionscript in Flash......

for all you LoTR geeks ahem, sorry FANS; this made the wife laugh!!!

You can join the teacher union ATL as an associate member, which is great, because you cheese off teachers by being in their union!

I thought I reckognised it as well! Good ol LSA, just to live just down the road @ Cleveleys, and go drinking in Poulton. Even worked at the Civil Service Computer Centre there, on occasion!

Shame! I thought this was a hot topic that deserved a thread all of its own! -

It's alright the Government saying it want to provide low cost housing for "key workers" such as teachers, but they get paid a fortune, especially compared to tecchies and teaching assistants. I genuinely believe that a lot of the teachers I've met, are teachers because they couldn't get a job in "the real world". I've yet to meet an ICT teacher who could do ICT! -
I haven't seen the computer myself, I'm just trying to prove to her that the guy "fixing" her computer hasn't a clue, and is just trying to sell her a graphics card!

you must be kidding! Here in Cumbria / Lake District, the house prices are so high, and wages so low, none of the locals can afford to buy, and are forced to rent. The only people who can afford to live in Cumbria are rich Londoners. :x -
from the look of the posts, the only one who seems happy about the star re-gradeds is Tarquel! Looks like I'll have to start posting to people questions, saying I don't know the answer either!

before things get too heated (pun intended!!!), what happens (so I'm told) is the computer freezes, and SHE reboots the computer, not that the computer reboots itself!
-
not much point, the penrith alhambra is even worse quality picture than a pirated camcorder version off eDonkey!

I've seen it now, it's ok. Shrek is brilliant, so Madagascar has a hard act to follow. The wife and kids loved it, but it was just lacking a certain something. Still, it'll keep kids happy over the summer holidays

Yes, if you want to alter all the fonts etc, you could use CSS, but you can also create a template in Dreamweaver. It's not that I'm against CSS persay, it's just that it seems over hyped to me!

when I say crash, I presumed she meant freeze. I've thought all along (without seeing the machine) heat, but interesting that the Graphics Card doesn't seem to be a likely cause (like duh!!!). And she did tell me that the back of the computer is next to the back of the 'fridge. Really seems a "no-brainer" to me, shame she gave it to someone with no brain!!!

can you not scan the page, and post it on the site; it'll save me £3.25!!!

I have a friend, and her computer keeps crashing. Someone she knows said he'd look at it for her: These are the symptoms (1) Crashes after 20 mins: Reboot (2) Crashes after 15 mins: Reboot (3) Crashes after 10 mins: Reboot You get the idea. This "chap" has said it needs a new graphics card because of the graphically intense game she's playing, and he's waiting for the money off her for a new graphics card, then he can return the computer! Only she can't afford a new graphics card! Now I don't reckon it's the graphics card, and I've told her what I think the answer is, so if you could all contribute your answers, so that I can get her computer back for her and solve the REAL problem. I bet you're all wondering what this fantastic game that uses so much of the graphics card is....... Solitaire!!!! I've deliberatly not posted what the real cause of the problem is, so that I won't predudice your opinions when I show her (and the idiot trying to extort a new graphics card off her) the general concensus!!!!

Did this letter ever get published?

I was thinking of taking the kids to see Madagascar this weekend. Has anyone seen it, is it any good?

Bummer!!! I'm down to amateur again :!:
-
I just don't see the point in CSS, or am I missing the point? Everything on the demos can be done in basic html! I'd much rather work with layers!
-
oh heck! does this mean I'm going to be a newbie AGAIN!!!
-
because if everything is hot to trot, it would save having to configure it!
-
can you not post the .iso on the downloads section, or is it specifically "tuned" or licenced for your LEA?

It's alright installing Linux, but what about getting it to recognise a windows server, installing software, configuring Apache, and getting Moodle to .. well.. moodle? I haven't got the 1st idea! Good job I've got 6 weeks off to start. I thought BIN BASH was the noise a dustman makes!!!!
