Has anyone set up Moodle. The head here wants to use it, but the schools internet provider is nervous! How simple is it to get up and running, preferably on a remote web server?

I've got it dishing out DHCP, on a slightly different range (i.e. I don't point it to the switch or the server), so any new device can't access the server, and if you don't know the proxy address (only I do) then you can't even access the internet.

Grant 31 is from the Standards Fund, and comes to Schools automatically I'm afraid -
I have the server dishing out via DHCP for when I ghost, then, when the machine is a happy bunny, I assign it a static IP. I find static much easier, because at a glance I know which room a computer is in.

The best place to try is Washington. A lot of America is covered, but for some reason, NY isn't that well done. Use the different satellite images as well.

That sounds such a useful, and obvious "killer ap" that Microsoft must have thought of a way to charge you more money for that!!!

I use the Nasa one, Earth wind, its free, and if you use the american satellites, you can all but make out peoples faces!

I know I'm going to be hung out to dry here! but I've had XP running on 64mb, although Micro$oft say the minimum is 128mb

my school isn't big enough for that to be a problem, we only have 75 (networked) PCs here and less than 500 students, which is probably the reason we're one of the few schools that can afford it!

I think you're making this too difficult. The SP1 for 2003 server includes the ability to block pop-ups on the clients, which I've employed with no problem here. (and if I can do it, anyone can!) Stewart Knight Network Manager Appleby Grammar School
