too late to say that you should have installed Windows 2003 in a VM then! All the data on the h/d is saveable as is the original o/s, but you need to fettle the MBR to recognise the o/s. You could, as suggested install the vista os again, windows XP will also allow you to do that (but it takes some pursuading). Some linux boot discs can also allow you access to the MBR and correct it, so that it is only looking for Vista, as long as you haven't corrupted the MBR

you're into a whole world of pain. For whatever reason, microsoft NEVER like to make it easy..... or obvious. PLUS.... the upgrade from 2003 to 2007 takes 4 time longer than a clean install.... for whateva reason!!!!

In my opinion, the majority of student are far too immature to constructively discuss developments in the teaching and learning of ICT provided by the school. The example of using Office 2007 is an example. Why do they want 2007? Because it's the latest thing out. I doubt any of them could site a legitimate reason for wanting it. I think ICT is about teaching the concepts not the specifics. Therefore, so long as you understand the concept of say, mail merge, and can do it on the sepcific software that the school has, then thats fine. Understanding the conecpt of mail merge or forumlas in a spreadsheet is more important that simply being able to do it on one specific package. anyway... thats my 2 pence worth!

the key would be different (obviously) but you can make an XP cd and change it so that it ask for an OEM key, it's just a number change on a file. Equally, you can install from your disc, as the hardware has a key that allows XP home on it, and that's what matters, not which disc was used to install XP

I've done it the other way. A PAYG sim from south africa in my english phone worked in South Africa. When I returned to Blighty, the sim cards still got a signal. It's incorrect to say PAYG doesn't allow roaming. They do, and I've used it often!
