This REALLY concerns me! IT techs in schools get a bad rep from teachers, who often think their the only professionals in the world, never mind the school! A tech needs to be knowledgeable, confident and be able to stand up for him (or her!! Sorry Witch ;-) ) Teachers have low opinions of non teaching staff, especially techs, so by employing someone who doesn't have a clue, re-enforces the stereotype! With your lack of knowledge, they should have taken you on as a trainee, and the staff understand that you are there to learn the ropes!

If you're going to spend thousands on a server, why not buy a decent one from Dell???

Try the hd on a xbox, the 20gb hd has over 5gb of micro$oft anti copy protection on it. Over a quarter of an already small hd taken up by essentially DRM that is larger than Windows XP!!!!

Depends on the OS I'm afraid. I used to be able to do it wirelessly, but M$ took away the functionality. You need XP with Media Centre or Vista Ultimate / Home which has media centre as an integral part.

actually, I've never used Access or SQL before, but it's a doddle! He says till he gets stuck!!!! I have a working database with the forms doing what I want, and the reports working too. I'm just smartening it up. I've found that once you've got the queries working, the rest just follows naturally. Mind you, I'm probably doing it wrong!

the database is in Access 2003 format. So far I'm doing ok, does anyone know how to query on dates? I want to produce a list of items due back that day, and those that are late back as well
