the issue I have with pre-N is that N hasn't been ratified. Its' all about the gimic, why buy a wireless device that may not be compatible with the full N spec!! They should advertise the N spec as an after thought, not as the main selling point. Bring back 5.4......... I love that A spec!

Edubuntu is a good start, and the forums are very well documented. I prefer Fedora myself, but thats just me. Wait till you've seend Beryl / compiz.... prepare to be amazed. If teachers didn't buy windows only software, I'd be using Linux as the network OS here.

Disabled here too. In an ideal world, where students come to learn and don't "mess" then i'd enable it. However kids will mess, and if they can ruin something, they will do, just because they can.

I might be mistaken, but the webpage comes on port 80, but the embedded video is on another port. By my understanding the video can't stream on Port 80 because thats for html files. Is Port 554 used by the Beeb?

My Saab 900 (before General Motors took over) was a beast! Fast, sleek and 250k miles on the clock The only problem I had was a snapped bar on the gear box, which the AA fixed in no time. The final time I took it for an MOT, the mechanics couldn't belive the car had done so many miles. They couldn't find anything wrong with it at all! In retrospect though, the air con didn't blow "that" cold, but since all 4 electric windows and sunroof worked, it wasn't too much of a problem!

nlite and compress the OS gives you more space than the original Xandros distro On one of mine, I have XP, adobe reader, SIMS, Office 2003, Google earth and skype, yet I still have over 1gb of hard drive left!

I have 2 eeepc's. One with XP and one with the standard Xandros distro on I do like the tabbed interface on the eeepc, but to do stuff at school, you do need to put XP on it, or at the very least hack the eeepc so that you can get to the proper OS behind the tabs

I installed the Linux version of Google earth on my eeepc... ran like a dog On XP it is brilliant... and I can run SIMS Also SKYPE with the camera is a pain on the linux... doodle on XP Plus more h/d available with XP once you've fiddled. It's a shame, I love the Linux distro with the eeepc, but XP works better on it, you can install all the software you use on the network and get it to join the domain and use the domain resources.

I hate the "for dummies" books, because the really are for dummies, with the type of humour (humor) only americans find funny... hence "for dummies" I would have thought that the books you are selling are a little too basic for the average edugeeker... but that's just my opinion.... sorry!
