HOWTO: Integrate eeePC into existing Windows Network
StewartKnight replied to SimpleSi's topic in *nix
@ DMcCoy He knows that! Hi Simon, I've just ordered a(n) Eeepc, so I'll let you know how I get on! Is the HP2600n/Business Inkjet on a share? -
I'm having the same problem too, and we're using it for SIMS Class Monitor. Has anyone got a successful Class Monitor / PDA combo?

Try Lancs uni, they have some great courses and are good value.

Recommend me a wireless switch
StewartKnight replied to StewartKnight's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Having one wire to the back of the classroom, from a network point, looks unprofessional. Wireing back to the cabinet is beyond the tools I have (sure I can network, but my DIY skills suck, and the walls are massively thicj anyway) A nice ELEGANT solution... a wireless switch, as described above. the AP is bridge mode looks like a botch job, I'd rather have a wireless switch that was bridged, than a AP bridged to a switch. -
you can do that, but make sure that the AP's are on different channels. there are 3 channels that don't overlap, so I'd choose them! The channels are 1, 6 and 11

Recommend me a wireless switch
StewartKnight replied to StewartKnight's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I find that wireless adapters don't work, as you need to log on before the machine starts to get the wireless signal. -
Ours is added! Hands up the people who DIDN'T change the default password..... Before you ask,...... not guilty!

Here's the senario....... I have 5 computers at the back of a classroom, with a network point at the front of the classroom. What I want to do is put an AP at the front of the class, then add a switch at the back of the classroom that picks up the wireless signal and, via ethernet, wire the computers to the switch. Saves me the hassle of wireing up a classroom! Any recommendations?

The question on everyones lips..... whats the salary? -
I got my BT vision for free. Its' rubbish, especially when you tie it into a BT broadband connection. I used it with my Netgear ADSL modem/router because the BT Home Hub wasn't up to much. I had to reset it 4 or 5 times a day, especially when using p2p. As soon as my 18 months is up... its' hasta la (not Microsoft) vista BT!

Concentrate and see it through to the end, it only takes about 30 secs. And don't think hard about the word question at the end, just the first thing that comes into your head. At the end of this message, you are asked a question. Answer it immediately. Don't stop and think about it. Just say the first thing that pops into your mind. This is a fun "test"... AND kind of spooky at the same time! Give it a try, and you'll see how many people you know fall into the same percentage as you. You'll understand what that means after you finish taking the test". Now... just follow the instructions as quickly as possible. Do not go to the next calculation before you have finished the previous one.. You do not ever need to write or remember the answers, just do it using your mind. >You'll be surprised. Start: How much is: 15 + 6 > > > > > > > > > > > 3 + 56 > > > > > > 89 + 2 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 12 + 53 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 75 + 26 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 25 + 52 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 63 + 3 2 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I know! If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind. 98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise. If you do not believe this, pass it around and you'll see. Be sure to put in the subject line if you are among the 98% or the 2% and send to everyone, including the person that sent it to you.

when you do a sysprep, you need to tell the image that there are different drivers for the NIC. the location needs to be specified in the sysimage. This is the technet guide to using sysprep.
