Recent support experience I had, now that they've rolled ParentMail support into the borg, it took them days to resolve an issue that would've been resolved in my initial contact previously. Involved 3 members of support staff, stating the same things over and over again in response to what I was saying, seemingly without actually reading what I said. Until finally, they did what they used to do and resolved the issue.

Ours is stored in Google Drive, and shared with appropriate level permissions for individuals that need access. Ofsted were happy with this when one of our schools was last inspected. The security you have in place seems fine to me. It is limited in access, has an extra layer of password security (and I'm guessing that as it is password protected, its an Excel file, so has its own built in encryption too). What sort of extra security is whoever is asking thinking on top?

Ah, missed the backup server - you'd want a Standard edition license for the backup server, both in terms of Windows server and system center. And as the minimum cores is 16, you'd want 1 x 16 core pack of each (or a 16 core pack of CIS). With regards system center licenses, the licensing for this is a bit different. Basically, the desktop pack you are buying covers any system center management license for clients, but doesn't cover any server management at all. If you manage any of the servers in any way via system center (be it MECM, SCVMM or any other system center product), then the server ML licenses are needed. So, if you use MECM to manage updates on the other server at all, you'd need to license it too.

There are WinSvrDCCore 16Lic versions - these seem like they may be easier to deal with? (As the minimum per physical server is 16 cores, then you top up with 2Lic packs I believe). So, in your case, you would need 4 x 16 core packs. For the system center licensing, you should have an equal number to the above, if you are managing the servers on the same systems. To make life even easier, we don't purchase these separately here, instead we buy CISSTEDCCORE - which is a combined Server DC and System Center DC license pack as a single SKU. I believe these come in 16 core and 2 core packs as well, so you either need 32x 2 core packs, or 4 x 16 core packs.

I'd love to say I'd play the latest AAA games, in full ultra graphics etc... but in reality? It'd be so I can play Stellaris with Xeno-Compatibility turned on so that the game doesn't slow down after the mid point Plus Minecraft of course

I've been watching something light-hearted lately. Young Sheldon. Not watched any before. Enjoying it. The kids are great.

We have cameras covering the communal area in our loos here. So, it covers the sinks, doorway etc... It does not cover cubicles or urinals. Whilst there is an expectation of privacy in toilets, this is usually limited to the cubicles themselves. I'm not sure anyone has an expectation of increased privacy when washing their hands. The CCTV worked though. We had lots of problems with vandalism - weirdly, more in the girls than the boys. When the CCTV went in and people started being punished for their behaviour, it soon stopped. We had tried various things before too - we refurbished the loos so they were nice and high quality. We put music on. Our old head put up big vinyl eyeballs to make children think they were being watched (that one was a bit harebrained). None of that worked.

I would honestly go with the last one. It allows you to set "all users" and "all devices" level settings easily, whilst also then allowing easy school/role specific settings underneath. Its how we do it here anyway.

So, I have had some fun over the last few days deploying Windows 10 to our new laptops. These Acer TravelMate P214-53 laptops do not have any settings in the bios to turn off "RAID" which seems to be used with the M.2 devices. Even though Acer provides a driver cab for the device on their site, the drivers do not work properly with OSD. The fix, after much fiddling - download the latest RST drivers from Intel here. I downloaded both the zip files (not the EXE), extracted and added them as drivers in SCCM, gave them their own package, and then added the drivers to the boot image. I also had to add a driver package install step to the task sequence, after the normal driver install step, pointing specifically at these drivers for the task sequence to work past the first reboot. Hope this helps others if they have this issue.

All depends on what you bought - rules for businesses are very different to consumers. Where we are, we're 40+ miles from a repair center, so when we've had to get Apple stuff repaired under AppleCare, they have always used their alternative and arranged C&R - but have to speak to someone at Apple for that.

So, we have experimented with all sorts of layouts for our IT rooms over the years. We've had rows, we've had columns, we've had children around the edge, we've had group tables/islands. All in all? The preferred layout - around the edge with non computer tables in the middle to pull children to when needed.

It took us about 2 months to research, demo and test them and make our decision. With tools like G Cloud 12, the pricing side was easy. People just have to be decisive tbh. We go live on 28th March with Bromcom for out 6 schools.

No, it is your system - they should not have admin access at all as they are not entitled to access to your data. They should only have access when doing repairs etc. If they have admin access, and you have it internet connected to view remotely, then the company has access to your footage for no legitimate reason. We have admin control over all our CCTV systems.

I'm quite surprised regarding onboarding - when we signed up they were very insistent we had an onboarding session with an engineer to get everything running. That said, I do agree about flexibility - it is not a flexible system. Lots of features it could do with adding, and a total lack of any process to push for changes - things just disappear into a black hole and nothing changes.
