This is ridiculous. If an issue is affecting more than 1 customer, it is a partial outage. No-one else works like that? The system was not operational if people could not log in. This screams of trying to redefine what an outage is. To your customers? Its an outage. To elaborate - what the *cause* of the partial outage was is irrelevant to the end user. Bug, natural disaster, alien attack. Doesn't matter. The end result is the same - customers not being able to log in using methods they have paid for as part of their contract. You even explicitly list SSO as a method of logging in as part of your sales stuff, so you cannot claim the system was working if SSO wasn't - SSO is part of your system.

@mikeglover - you might have hit a blip with the Curseforge servers? It worked for me via the Curseforge app earlier. Would be worth trying again. We'll do another 1.18 pack once things are a little more stable.

WeVideo would be my recommendation. We used it for a while and people liked it.

We have been running a school funded 1:1 scheme for the last 3 years. It was supposed to be a 1 year pilot, followed by analysis but then Covid hit... So, the question has now come up - is it worth the money and time? Does doing this improve attainment? Or is attainment not the target of your scheme? One of my tasks this month is to get the headteachers of the schools we implemented this in to tell us if us spending £70k a year on Chromebooks is actually worth it. As it stands, the numbers don't support it.

My DCs have 2GB each... So 4GB is plenty unless you've got enormous networks.

I went by the numbers of schools people had listed on this thread confirming they've jumped. I counted those who didn't specify number as just 1 school. So it was at least 65.

Yup. It wouldn't surprise me if the real number of schools leaving was 10x what's been discussed on here tbh.

Not really. Especially as they got rid of the "you must cancel by Dec 31st" thing. 65 schools just from half a dozen people who post on here is a lot. I'd hazard there are a significant number more jumping who just don't use Edugeek. Some people fear change.

So from what I can tell, just from the few posts on here, ESS seem to have lost at least 65 schools through this. More than likely more (those that don't post on Edugeek).

Do you block archive.org, and the Way Back Machine? We do here, due to their snapshotting system caching pornographic sites. However, we've been asked to allow openlibrary.org to be used, but it stores its files within archive.org... So, what do you do?

How about just using the resource booking in Google Workspace calendars? This is what we do now. Nice and simple to manage, its all built into their normal calendars.

We have made the decision to migrate our Trust from Google to Office 365, to be in line with all the other schools in Somerset. As part of that, this means our next planned purchase of 1:1 Chromebooks has been abandoned, and we're now looking at Windows devices instead. The question I have is which devices would you go for? Full Windows 11 or the more limited Windows 11 SE devices? Pricing-wise, we are looking to pay around the same as we were for Chromebooks, so we don't intend to spend a huge amount more on them. Obviously, full Windows 11 has the advantage of flexibility. But Windows 11SE has less to go wrong, a lower attack surface and a more comparable experience to Chromebooks. So, what are your thoughts?

Not a lot for me. Migrated SIP providers, and merged a couple of PBXs to move them to a single central system for our Trust.

Honestly, that second tweet, about Ed:gen? There's a simple reason for that. It's vaporware. They had a single screenshot on their site when I last looked. They haven't added pricing to G Cloud for it, it's still iSAMS pricing etc... Until they catch up and join the market properly, they're unlikely to see much movement for Ed:gen.
