Afternoon people, Another GDPR head peck. I have just had my first email from a company we work with asking me for explicit consent to contact us come GDPR going live. Which is fine as I can ignore those who keep pestering me. However who's role is it to report any breach made by another business to the ICO in future? Would that be us as individuals or our internal DPO?

I've once told them the accident I was in was fatal and asked how they have managed to contact me from beyond the grave? *click buzz........

My phone does a double ring for an external call. I never answer them, I listen to any voice messages left then promptly delete them after.

Here is another teaser, after May you get a right to be forgotten request. You duly process it, but you need to hold a copy of the request from the individual (possibly signed) for auditing purposes. If we hold only a single piece of paper to prove that the request was made and carried out, then the person still hasn't been forgotten???

Hertfordshire grid for learning had netsweeper as part of the connectivity deal which ended of recent. I found it okay, but I could not fathom out how to generate reports and the most we had done was add to black or white lists in the AD groups. This was managed upstream via the LEA so wasn't a physical onsite filter mind...

Thanks Grazza, did you have to set a lot of path/file rules to make the suite work? What about station security levels?

Sorry, this has gone right down the priority list at the moment, never did get to the bottom of it, as a short term measure educated each individual to delete contacts that are not in use and not to rely on autocomplete, but we still get the odd enquiry about this from time to time. If I find a fix for it I will let you know.

Afternoon, Just wondered if anyone with an RM CC4.5 network has actually managed to create their own successful package for deployment of Adobe CC2017? My tech cobbled together CS5.5 a while back as they only had an official installer for CS4. CS6 was the last version that I know they worked on, but they have just announced that it is end of road for CS6 and recommend we purchase CC2017 at some point. TIA Andy

Definitely the same mainboard version as the rest of the machines? I had one machine that wouldn't PXE only to find that on inspection of the in warranty machine, some engineer decided to change the board at some point to another flavour completely different to the others....

Glad to see we weren't alone, however having asked other schools that migrated over at the same time as us, they never experienced this quirk!

First thing we done as we couldn't reach any web based printer settings without having a 172* wildcard setting in the bypass local addresses.

Apologies if this does end up in the wrong section, but here goes.. We moved our connectivity in line with 500+ other schools in Hertfordshire from Updata to RM. At exactly the same time of the switch over, our print fleet (Konica Minolta) started take around 30 seconds to spool prints before releasing. This was more obvious in the admin areas where there was no papercut release functionality. After a few weeks of deleting drivers trying to recreate queues etc and checking settings - I was still flummoxed. Until I had then gone into printer properties/ports/configure port and untick the SNMP Status Enabled box, everything seemed to spring back into action. This is not a setting we have had to do on our previous connectivity and I am perplexed as to why this change would need to be made since changing connection? I know the SNMP protocol is using for gathering info on printers etc, but I thought that was really more on this side of the firewall than the external? Has anyone else experienced this?

FUS does come with a few headaches - granted this cannot be done through RMMC, but through a standard GPO. One thing to remember this that it can through issues on applications which run on start up, like a papercut client apparently. BTW we haven't set up FUS here, but was talking with a nearby school (CC4.5) last week who implemented it and possibly will remove it again lol.

Have you blocked local print and USB pass through? Just thinking of data breach implications.

Yes, we have no other option as CC4.5 - however we never really suffer from corrupt profiles.

I believe that the term constitutes that they had only one high ranking release plus others which didn't quite cut the mustard. Some presume that the term means that they only released one track.

We have only recently started to use SIMS intouch and there is a similar issue where if a message is sent (blanket or individual message), if a parent replies then all administrator group members get to see the reply, worrying if it was a query regarding a safeguarding issue. From what I hear, Capita don't seem to see it as an issue..... The right to turn off replies to individual messages should be at the very least high up in the feature list!

We have a Aruba 105 controller-less infrastructure and we have found that iOS11 users are getting kicked off the network before authentication lol.

Morning, Can anyone recommend a decent ID card printer? Looking for durability of the output as we don't want to have to keep reprinting out cards which have faded etc. TIA, Andy T

We use the same numbering system for staff logons and SIMS usernames so what I implemented last week was to get the SIMS to start automatically at log in to show the sign in box at startup. Feedback has been very positive. I understand pushing it to the SSO level though does fill me with the DPF (Data Protection Fear).

I would go the same way as Fazza, clone the monitor output to projector one, then use a VGA from the output of projector one into projector 2. Something we used for the first time only about 3 months ago. Works really well.

If you are a large site, start pulling out fibre links one at a time to certain parts of the site at the core switch. Once you've isolated at the core - the link lights should start behaving normally again. Then investigate that part of the building.
