  1. This has to be the most 'thanks' I've ever seen in a thread on here.
  2. No difference at all between 32-bit and 64-bit. dbAttach should work on either and we have a large number of schools running 2008 R2 64-bit, and even a couple with Server 2012 64-bit.
  3. Comedy gold!
  4. On SupportNet, Resource 20810 - Monitoring Session and Lesson Attendance handbook. Section 6 - Housekeeping rules, there is an Archive Attendance Marks section documenting it. Roughly, there is a routine you run in SIMS .net to select the years to archive, then you run "archiveattendancemarks.exe" as a scheduled task overnight on the SIMS server to actually action the archive: "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SIMS2008\MSSQL\Binn\archiveattmarks.exe" /S %COMPUTERNAME%\SIMS2008 /D SIMS /U sa /P ****** /V The results of the archive are written in the Event log on the server.
  5. 5 Star thread right here!

  11. If there is a god, why oh why would he allow EA to create 'Origin'?

A friend of ours had a baby girl during the snow period. They called it Snowbell. More amusingly, the grandmother keeps offering to pay for a name change!
  13. CNets best guess. No official pricing yet, but values around that mark seem realistic.
  14. I don't think chat roulette counts.
  15. Maybe their April fools joke this year was not that far off!!! XBMC Goes Back to its Roots [April Fools] | XBMC
  16. ^^ THIS.
  17. The full video is available on the Sky News app on the iPad if you have one.
  18. Think it's in a low power mode when it's "off" to allow updates to download.
  19. Watching delayed and got the COD video info. I love the way the dev was so excited about the ability to lean in game! Anyone else not that impressed with the graphical quality of Ghost?
  20. I love a good book, yet over the past year I seem to have slipped from regular reading. I'm trying to kick-start it again and am working my way through Dan Brown's Inferno at the moment. I may not be a literary genius or as well 'read' as some of the book reviewers in the papers who seem to slate all of his books at every opportunity, but I do enjoy reading his story's. I find them easy to read and they keep my interest while keeping me thinking at the same time and so far, Inferno has proved to be a quality read. After this, I'm planning on either retrying 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' (which I originally gave up on part way though) or getting a copy of Warwick Davis' autobiography 'Size Matters Not'. I'm always always keen for book recommendations, so what are you lot reading at the moment? Any books worth chucking on the 'to read' pile?
  21. It should do yes. However I always run the commands above manually before detaching a database just to be extra sure.

Interesting concept. Joined the group to try it out.
  23. Not fully familiar with TS setup, but am I right in thinking the server has to be put into 'installation mode' or something when installing software onto it? Has this been done? Also, any active users connected and using SIMS?
  24. For info, Office 2013 is not yet supported with SIMS .net. It may work but if you have problems with running reports to 2013, don't expect help from Capita.
  25. Sounds like they were not transferred before the backup. When we do a backup, we run these commands first to make sure they are included in the backup: osql –S127.0.0.1\sims2008 -E -n -Q"exec sims.sims.db_p_transfer_login" osql –S127.0.0.1\sims2008 -E -n -Q"exec ccsfms.sims.db_p_transfer_login" Also, when we migrate SIMS to a new server, we run these commands, detach the database and copy it across, then re-attach it. We don't restore from a backup.
