Has anyone got to the point where you're thinking that despite the "done when it's done" motto Rocket is sticking to, it's really about time that something was released? A December release was adventurous, but we're 5 months past that now. I thought the idea of following the minecraft model was to get "something" alpha-like out there ASAP and continue develop it?

It sounds like that's the point where FMS should have been migrated across to SQL2005. I also think from that point on once on SQL2005, SOLUS2 could be used to upgrade the FMS database up to the last release that was supported before the SQL2008 migration.

There is one school that has a new 2008R2 server with SOLUS3 on it and the time SOLUS3 takes to transfer upgrade files to workstations is abysmal. For example, one workstation did not have the FMS upgrade as it was not part of the FMS Client channel. Once I added it, SOLUS3 immediately started transferring the upgrade file to the workstation to update it. The Native Client upgrade files took 10 minutes for SOLUS3 to copy across, BDE took about 10 minutes and the actual FMS Client upgrade took about 15 minutes to copy. Network utilisation is next to nothing and manually copying files from server to workstation in explorer is really quick (.NET 4 installer @ 50Mb took 2 seconds to copy). Anyone else come across slow transfer times in SOLUS3?

If the pupil has been on roll before, you need to readmit the pupil again to make them a current pupil, then import the CTF which won't add a new record, but simply merge the info in the CTF with the existing record.

Wow! 6 years?! That's shocking!!! SQL Anywhere was well before my time, but I assume if you did manage to get hold of the migration tool, You'll actually have to migrate it across to a SQL2005 instance first, and then run all the previous upgrades to get it up to a version that will allow you to migrate it to a SQL2008 instance, and then upgrade it to the Spring 2013 release!!! And there is no guarantee that the upgrades will go smoothly either! Would it not be easier to cut your losses and start a brand new Spring 2013 FMS database and leave the old SQL Anywhere 5.5 copy accessible for historical purposes?

Correct. Been doing a lot of in house testing trying to get sims and discover working with sims on 2012 and discover on 2008 R2. Spent ages trying to get the transfer to work but it just refused to work. I've still not heard of anyone who has got this working either!

I enjoyed this GTA-esque style game and loved blowing everything up. I always thought it would be a lot more more fun with Multiplayer. I can't believe I'm doing this. I never thought that I'd be in the position where I had something good to say about SOLUS3. We upgraded schools to SOLUS3.5.20 last week and rolled out the FMS Spring upgrade two days ago. The normal calls came in regarding the usual "incompatible database" errors, and most were down to sites not adding devices with FMS into the FMS Workstation channel in the SOLUS3 Deployment Enviroment. I was shocked to find that as soon as I added these devices into the FMS workstation channel, SOLUS3 almost immediately saw they were out of date and started upgrading them right away!!!! This is a huge step in the right direction! Don;t get me wrong, still a long, long, long way to go, but knowing that any out of date devices will be upgraded automatically when added to SOLUS3 makes me happy!

Another Supportnet update regarding the current "fix": Whilst patch 18148 has improved performance it is not as efficient as we would wish. So that users can benefit from the new fuctionality additional work is taking place. The fix will be released as soon as possible. This news item will be updated as soon as we have an further information.

Oooo thanks. Can't seem to find any Android smartphones around that price so this looks like an ideal solution.

Not been on DayZ in a while. Moved onto the Wastelands mod for ARMA2. Awesome fun.

I've started using the Zombies, Run! Couch to 5K app and am really enjoying it, however recently my headphone jack has become a bit "temperamental" on my HTC Desire HD and some sound goes quiet/cuts out etc unless the jack is held in a certain way (which is hard when running!) Rather than the expense of sending it off for repair, I was thinking it may be easier to buy a dirt cheap basic Android smart phone purely for running with, on that can run the Zombies, Run! app, has enough room for a bit of music and also has GPS tracking so I can accurately map my runs. I wont bother putting a SIM in it as it's not needed. Anyone have any recommendations?

Found the above patch for SOLUS3 in our SOLUS3 LA DS released 12th April. Can't see any news items or SupportNet forum posts on what it's for! Anyone know what this does and if it's needed?

It's included in the SIMSInfrastructureSetup.exe I believe. Just run it and select the FMS Components option.

Patch 18148 is now live. According to a post on SupportNet, it sets the refresh for the timeline to 30 minutes. Apparently, it does not alter the ammount of data being collected though so the same CPU hit on the server per refresh remains the same, but it should be once every 30 minutes.

I work at our LA and Capita usually get back to me within 1-2 days (sometimes 3-4 if busy) when I log calls with them, so it may be worth chasing with your LA support unit? Saying that, I had a call from the Capita service desk yesterday regarding a case I logged and was told that the support desk is getting slaughtered by calls from sites with this homepage and excessive CPU usage issue introduced in the Spring upgrade.

Do you have just the one SQL instance installed? If you have two plus SQL instances installed on the same server, you have to include the TCP port being used by the instance you want to connect to. EG: SQL-SERVER-01\SIMS2008,1435

IE10 Testing... Edit: Indeed, IE10 file uploads seem to result in an endless spinning icon. It's also a bit rough with rendering some aspects of Edugeek too! Good job I use Firefox!

Another thing, ensure the DMS service is actually running on the server. On odd occasions, it has been known to stop itself and also never restart even after a reboot.

Sometimes it can be something simple where someone's been in the DMS settings in SIMS and changed the protocol from HTTP to TCP. Worth checking those details also.

Latest than so that should not be an issue. I'm outta ideas but will be curious to know what the issue is when you find out. Be sure to update the thread!
