... or me since we work together. We have a side by side setup here using polarization and dual projectors (Link). There is a severe lack of resources like this out there and Freiz is busy making some 3d programs/experiences to use with the system. It's a slow laborious task but one that's going to be worth it in the end. We can create our own 3d movies using cameras but again, it's a bit of a faff to get it right. HBJB

Really? I use one of my Gmail account for exactly this purpose as well and find the labels and filtering system works like a charm. Maybe you need to be a bit more/less specific in the filter rules and perhaps apply more than one label. Just a suggestion - if it doesn't work for you then so be it. HBJB

Are Capita looking into a 'Fire drill' button - something nice and big and on the home page for certain user groups (apologies if one already exists)? I know our reception have to print out entire sets every day and anything that speeds this along would be great. HBJB

Another vote for Clonezilla but don't forget (or rule out) Fog as mentioned above. HBJB

Using Copyrighted music in course work
Heebeejeebee replied to mattstevenson2005's topic in How do you do....it?
I'm getting the same type of requests (again). It goes along the lines of: Why can't they rip their CDs... bla bla bla ... why do you block downloads and stop torrents ... bla bla bla ... who's going to find out ... bla bla bla ... you're affecting yhe teaching and learning of the students ... bla bla bla. One word reply. Tough. If they found some copyright free and legal music then that would be ok but they just want an excuse to let them rip any and all music to their home folders. HBJB -
They'll need proper access to the SIMS folder on the local machine as well. HBJB

Backup Exec Credential Error
Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Well - I got it sorted so I'll post here in case anyone else has a similar error. It turns out that my excludes contained a rather funky line or two that BE didn't like (although it took a while for it to stop working). In desperation I removed the excludes and the job started to work again. Now to my next problem - how to get the excludes working for certain files and folders on only one server (I don't want a blanket exclude just on one remote server). my lines went like this: \\server.domain.local\d:\home\*\**\recycler \\server.domain.local\d:\home\*\**\*.mp4 hoping it would stop the backup of the recycler folders and certain file types which are under d:\home\students\user on the server in question. This apparently isn't liked by Backup Exec. I can set a blanket block which does work (\\*\*\**\ as the path) but this covers all servers and I only want it to affect one. Any pointers? HBJB -
Hi all, I have a mysterious Backup Exec (11d build 7170) problem that I'm hoping you can shed some light on. We have three working instances of BE covering the following scenario: Server A backs up Server A, B & C to its own tape drive Server D backs up Server D, E, F & G to its own tape drive Server H backs up server A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H to tape loader (fail safe full backup) Until this week this has worked well but now server H fails saying that the credentials to back up server D are not valid. It backs up everything else. I've tested the credentials and I get a 'succeeded' message to everything. Backup Exec remote agent is running and is pointing at the correct server(s) and none of the passwords that this system uses have changed at all. Because server D has 'full' backup exec installed I cannot easily re-install the remote agent to see if it's failed. The only thing that has changed recently is some tweaking of the exceptions list to stop vob/mp3/mp4 files etc. from being backed up from server D but the backup worked fine for over a week after those changes were made. I've tried changing the credentials to that of the domain administrator with no success and have spent all morning trying to find solutions on the Symantec website but they only suggest checking that the passwords are correct. Hope someone can help HBJB

Don't bother getting one either. It's all crap at the moment. Bah!! Mind you looking back a few years .... nope - can't think of anything - it was crap then too! HBJB

Clonezilla saves in GZip format I believe, so you may be able to use 7zip or similar to get into the actual files. I've not tried and I'm not at work right now so I can't say for sure but it's worth a try. HBJB

FMS Issue (Fix works but only temporarily).
Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in MIS Systems
I was about to update this thread but you beat me to it. That didn't work for me when the problem existed. My problem happened on a Friday and I tried all sorts of things to fix it to no avail, when I got in on the Monday to change the drivers to PCL5 ones it was reported to be functioning normally again and hasn't failed since . I changed the drivers anyway but it seems to have been a glitch that fixed itself somehow. HBJB -
How do you manage your servers remotely?
Heebeejeebee replied to HodgeHi's topic in How do you do....it?
*logmein.com in the allowed list fixes this (for me anyway - SWGfL). BTW that one more vote for Log Me In. HBJB -
FMS Issue (Fix works but only temporarily).
Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in MIS Systems
Will try that. Cheers. It still doesn't explain why it stopped working though. I could if necessary make the printer local because it's in the same room as the PC it's only networked because the office is shared and the other person needs to print to it too (and we need to log all the print jobs). Cheers HBJB -

D'oh - you know what I mean, FMS-SQL - the new one (v6.116) !! OK now? Printer uses PCL6 drivers and there is always a default one set. HBJB -
FMS Issue (Fix works but only temporarily).
Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in MIS Systems
Ta, No WSUS update to this machine since yesterday and the printer drivers have not been updated. Default printer is set at logon script and has not changed. It's FMS.net. BTW. HBJB -
Hi, We have a workstation that was fine yesterday but today shows "Runtime Error at 217 at 000256AA" when runnig FMS when logged in as a nornal user. It works fine as administrator. The solution KB73422 covers this and I've deleted the user profile (several times) and deleted all temp files. No joy on Fix1. Fix 2 works but only until the next time they try to use it. This user has PDF creator and a networked printer and switching the default printer to PDF allows FMS to be run. If they then switch to the usual default printer they can't print from FMS until they've gone into the print setup and selected the network printer. Also switching back makes the program fail next time. As you can imagine this is a bit of a faff for the user concerned and I'm wondering if the solution fails because it's a networked printer. What I don't understand is why it worked yesterday and not today. Any pointers? KB73422 Fix: FIX 1 This is a Windows error referring to the user profile becoming corrupt. You can check this by logging on the Server as a different user with administrative privileges To solve the error 1. delete the corrupt user profile and recreate it. 2. delete the contents in C:\ Windows\temp folder If this is the administrator profile on the server, another profile can be created with admin rights. FIX 2 Please change the default printer, and then log into FMS. Once you can login successfully, you may then change the default printer back to what it was. Cheers HBJB

They have always delivered on the day specified for us. Can't say about the van though - I suppose it depends how they send it to you (courier, own van etc) and if it's a single unit or bulk order. HBJB
