Go for the hosted version, and try not to get any more involvement with it would be my advice! It's one of the most convoluted pieces of software I've ever had to deal with. Creating accounts is a myriad of permissions, levels and access rights that only stayed in my head briefly during the training, and then left again 10 minutes after. Not a system that is intuitive in anyway, shape or form.

The JCQ Exam Checklist has 'Word processors to be used in the exam have had connectivity to the internet disabled.' I can't find anything to suggest a requirement to disable network access.

Only thing I can see in the latest JCQ Guidelines is "h) must not be connected to an intranet or any other means of communication;" which I wouldn't equate to a domain or LAN.

To be fair, you could look at a Chromebook/Cheap PC and a Cloud Gaming service: Geforce Now, Stadia, XCloud or Shadow. I suspect Sony will have a streaming service too soon, and I heard a rumour Amazon are looking at it too.

I've been searching for a few hours looking for something that may not exist. What we want is a platform where students can rate their own progress (RAG rate) against each component of each of the exams they're taking. This would then feed into a class overview that the teacher can view and modify their teaching accordingly. Would be great if it also provided an overview for the student that a parent/mentor can look at and guide the student onto what to revise for. I've had no luck online (the closest was Doddle, which is shutting down), but this might be something a bigger platform does that I don't know about. The closest we've got is Class Notebook, which allows for a live document to be shared to students, and seen by teachers, but it is a mightily big PITA to setup, and it doesn't provide the overviews.

Is Doddle still closing down? That message isn't anywhere on the site that I can see... We are interested in Doddle because of the Doddle progress module, and the fact it breaks down each subject into it's component parts that can be RAG rated, and nothing else I've searched for seems to do that.

In later versions of windows, Microsoft decides to try and create a shortcut to Edge on the Desktop. I would bet this is causing your issue! I've put in a Reg edit GPO as per the following to stop it: https://superuser.com/questions/1323943/prevent-edge-desktop-shortcut-on-new-profiles

I've put in a GPO to disable Windows Store Apps from 'installing' for new users on all student PCs. Haven't tested it in anger yet, put my testing is proving hopeful, and it definitely removes the apps from the start menu! Computer Config - Admin Templates - Windows Components - Store - Disable all apps from Microsoft Store - Disabled* *The wording on this is a classic Microsoft double negative, by disabling you are, in fact, disabling them from being installed. One word of warning, do not set this GPO on PCs as they are being built, as it will kick the machine into a reboot cycle and won't build. I build my machine into one ou, then move it into the classroom ous that have this GPO applied. - - - Updated - - - Oh, and it does mean tha Edge isn't available for students. YMMV as to whether this a good or bad thing! In it's place, I've left Internet Explorer and install Chrome.

Also, have you built anything recently? There was an update to MDT that ticked a box which screwed up my MDT setup

Like many of us, I'm planning an upgrade to the base image used across the site. Whilst I know that Windows 10 2004 is having a slightly shaky start to life, I'm going with the latest version, and hoping that any issues are patched. So, I downloaded the latest ISO from Microsoft, stuck it into MDT, added some tasks into the Task Sequence, and attempted to build a VM. This is where the problems began. To cut a long story short: 1, You'll need to upgrade MDT and ADK, along with the Windows PE addon, to the latest version to be able to deploy Windows 10 2004. 2, The latest version of MDT is slightly broken, and will identify BIOS machines (or version 1 VMs) as UEFI, and thus the Failure (5616): 15299: Verify BCDBootEx issue. There are two fixes, one is a script that needs to be placed into your Task Sequence - Video here: Script can be found here: https://github.com/DeploymentResearch/DRFiles/blob/master/Scripts/FixUEFIDetection.wsf The other is a direct fix from Microsoft, which is probably the best bet, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4564442/windows-10-deployments-fail-with-microsoft-deployment-toolkit I can confirm the script in the first link resolved my issue. I'm hoping the fix from Microsoft will resolve it permanently, without the need for a separate task in each sequence! Initial testing shows that the first fix works, the one from Microsoft didn't. I may have missed something, but for now I'll continue using the script.

I wish I had the time to delve in Total Warhammer, but it doesn't suit the laptop I use for gaming or the 2 hour time slots I get to game in. Currently playing through Pillars of Eternity 2, well worth a look if you're a CRPG fan, though you'd probably need to play PoE1 first.

Two main complaints about Andromeda: 1, For a galaxy that you were meant to be exploring, it seemed to be very much explored already. I didn't feel a sense of wonder or discovery, especially not next to Skyrim/Fallout or Breath of the Wild. 2, No interesting alien species. The ones you discover aren't terrible interesting, and the ones that were interesting from the original trilogy were all left on the Ark that wasn't discovered (presumable DLC that wasn't completed). I enjoyed Andromeda overall, but I think it continues the general feeling of decline at Bioware, and the Mass Effect 2 was the last great game they've released. As a massive Bioware fan, I think it's a shame, but I'm far more interested in what Obsidian and Larian Studios are producing.

Not gonna lie, the middle section (books 8-10) are a bit of a slog, but I would argue that the pay off is worth it. Also, the first book has more than a few echoes of LotR about it, but Jordan breaks away from that and creates his own style soon enough. It's a weird series, I completely understand why some people dislike it, but if it gets your hooks in you, it's truly one of the best fantasy series I've ever read.
