I'm a totaly noob to bettign and the like (been to the dogs a few times etc but just placed simple bets and occasionally a to trio) so for other people such as myself how do accumulators and that work? What's involved etc..?

I've not long since got back from Download, it was awesome. I'll me making my way to Leeds too this year. Personaly I'd rather not hear QOTSA again, in 2008 they were on And I reckon they were just bashing out power-chords at one point. Them Crooked Vultures were the same at Download (hardly surprising). I can't even remember the Leeds lineup but in general it's more my kind of festival than Download. Here's to getting wrevcked and rocking out.

Well yesterday was a hangover day after Sunday night. Today I'm mostly wondering what it is I'm supposed to be doing and for the life of me I just can't remember. Looks like for the rest of the week I'll still be trying to remember what I'm supposed to be doing. This will also be mixed with copious amounts of reading my books, watching DVDs etc...

Well I installed Windows 7 a couple of weeks ago and had a suspiciously similar problem. It was because whenm I went to install 7 I'd wiped all the partitions and then installed 7. However I'd not that about what I was doing and I left the other HDDs in my computer. After a while I clicked on that Windows 7 had installed the necessary boot files to another HDD and my bios was trying to start the wrong drive. Start up Windows 7 and run BCDEDIT from a command prompt and see where it's put the boot files. If it's installed them in the wrong place then you can copy them and then change the BCD file. You'll have to google it though because I didn't bother to bookmark the site I used.

Have you read the later published ones like Sharpe's Tiger and Sharpe's Triumph? I'm on reading Sharpe's Triuph now, I'm just over halfway through. I've only recently started reading again. I asked one of our english teachers how to decide what to read and she said that if there's a film or TV series that I like then I should start there. Sharpe was the first thing that popped into my head and I just remember watching the episodes of Sharpe with Sean Bean playing the tough but fair Richard Sharpe. Good stuff.

Apparently Azincourt is a good read but I've got too many Sharpe books to work through first.

I've recently started reading the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell. Instead of goin in release/published order I'm goin in order of when they're set. They're an excellent read and Bernard Cornwell is quite a descriptive writer and does well to keep the reader's interest.

Hey guys, just had a really pleasant surprise. One of our ex pupils came back for a visit and tbh I thought we'd never see him again. Sounds like he's doing quite well for himself. Awww doesn't it make you happy to recall the good old days of chit-chatting with students and sixth formers?

I'm not sure but it sounds like you may have a routing problem. Is your setup new or did somebody prior to you set everything up? Unfortunately I have a limited grasp of network infrastructure and have no idea how to go about setting up routing or diagnosing it, however Google may yield the answers...or even the CLI guide for the Procurve switches that you can download from HP.

We've got Optiplex GX520s, Optiplex 755s and now some Optiplex 380s and they're all SFF. It's a pretty bad problem for us where the kids have poked the blaning plates out of the front of the machine. When have tried everything to stop them (melting the blanking plates in place with a soldering iron, using superglue and even using some impact/contact adhesive called Evo-Stik) and none of it has worked, they still push out the blanking plates. We have this though with all our machines as the kids seem determined to wreck things. I have stopped replacing our blanking plates and I don't really care if little Jimmy loses a finger because of shoving it somewhere it shouldn't have been. It's like touching something you're told not to, the only way you learn is to get hurt.

Unfortunately I can't offer any help but we are having a similar issue with kids using sticky keys. The only difference here is we use thick clients. I'd be very interested to see anybody's method of accomplishing this task.

I found a workaround. I moved the hidden boot folder and the bootmgr files and then used BCDEDIT to change the entries in the BCD file. probably not the best way to do everything but it works and should stop me accidentally destroying the boot files if I wipe the HDD they were put on. I still can't understand why Windows 7 didn't either give me an option to specify where to put the boot files or tell me where they were going. Oh well problem solved.

UPDATE: It's put the BOOTMGR on the wrong HDD so boot order was wrong in the CMOS settings. However it's on the disk that I don't want it on, how do I remedy this?

As you may have guessed from the title it's my first Win7 install and I think I may have c*cked it up. Basically I installed 7 from the DVD and now when I want to boot up I need the DVD in the drive otherwise I get the message "Boot disk failure...". What have I done wrong? Normally I'd expect this if it was trying to boot up from the wrong HDD or a flash drive. Any help?

UPDATE: Okay, here goes... I have gotten to the stage whereby the default setting for users for the removable storage service is disabled. I have also created a policy that enables the service for selected OUs. This bit works fine but the bit that doesn't is that whenever an administrator logs onto the machine, the Start key in the registry is deleted. Even with my policy that enables removable storage linked into the administrators OU, the administrator account still has this key deleted, yet another user account in this OU (my own account) the key appears and is the correct value. I'm totally baffled by this now. Any help troubleshooting this or explaining this will be greatly appreciated.

I've just tried and it would appear to work. D'oh!! I didn't think that the GPMC would be "broken". I've also realised I haven't quite planned the policy properly so it doesn't do exactly what I want but that's just a matter of tweaking it. Thanks guys.

Local machine. The value in particular is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR\Start and I want to change the value between either 3 or 4 to either set the service to automatic (started) or disabled. See attached for screenshot.

I'm not entirely sure it does. In your blog you're using a Windows 7 client and I'm using an XP client and also a different part of the preferences section in GPMC, which I'm not familiar with at all. In the registry setting I have changed, the common tab in properties displays (see attached). So as far as I'm aware the registry change should be applied as the System account...I may have missed the point you were trying to make though.

I still get the attached error from GP modelling wizard on the server.

Do the preferences you can set in side the 2008r2 GPOs apply to XP clients? If not then my query is solved, if they do then please read on. I have set preferences in different GPOs for registry settings to be updated depending on which OU in the tree the machine is. So I could have an OU called BASE with another OU inside called SUB. The settings for BASE should apply a registry setting change, then the settings for SUB should apply a change to the same key overwriting the previous change because of the order of policy inheritance. I can't see any issues on the client machine in question using GPRESULT (see attached) and there are no problems in RSOP. Whenever I do a group policy modeling wizard query I get an event (see attached). Any help would be greatly appreciated. event.txt gpresult.txt

I'd also recommend Netgear. I have a cheapy DG384G that I bought off eBay for £13 to check whether my PS3s problem was the router or the PS3. Turns out the PS3 didn't like the wireless of my Belkin Wireless N+ router.

What about RSoP though? Then that way you can see what GPOs are being applied and usually what the dominant settings are. Also if it's a permissions issue RSoP may indicate where the potential problem could be.

Do you get any relevant redirection issues reported in Event Viewer and also are there any issues reported by running a resultant set of policy?
