We are seeing an increasing trend of independent schools recording lesson attendance. The Ofsted inspection technique of following a pupil throughout the day has on many occasions revealed that pupils were not missing lessons because of an alternate curriculum option.

If any school still has major performance issues please ensure that you raise a case. We believe that the fixes should have brought CPU rates down to sensible levels.

If you'd like to raise a case we will investigate - there is no way this task should be lasting 10 hours.

So I don't agree that we have got that wrong! We had consultations with users on this area. The timeline is a diary equivalent and if you are not teaching a lesson it will be removed from your diary. If you are doing something else like a meeting, cover, detention or exam invigilation that will appear instead. Logical I think!

Not a bad plan @vikpaw - rather than free it would be at no additional charge! As long as we can show its an evolution of something we've had before I feel safer. For example we were challenged on Discover but as it is a development of Performance Analysis which we were absolutely first with we continued to offer at no additional charge. We did have to go the the OFT to explain ourselves but they decided on this occasion not to investigate further.

I'm afraid we have been challenged by a competitor so yes we have had to alter our plans to provide this at no extra cost. We have had to put in a barrier so that schools have to elect to buy this functionality. The whole area of competition law is highly complex and dangerous for us if we ignore it. We have made the barrier as low as we feel we safely can.

@vikpaw anything that helps pin this down would be welcome. We just can't make it happen. Thanks Phil

@CAM thanks for sending through more details. We've had one of our test engineers on the case for 3 hours and couldn't reproduce this behaviour. They have included the test in the plan so going forwards we will bash this on every release. Unfortunately without being able to reproduce the problem its virtually impossible to fix. If anyone can create this issue at will please let me know.

The solution I described does not rely on the teacher ticking the box for those very reasons you describe! InTouch and the report scans result sets for blanks.

Unlikely to be permissions as it should deal with this elegantly. Suggest you log a case.

I think there is a report but the really slick way of doing this is using InTouch which can automatically email or txt the guilty.

@dezt I think your LA would really object if the file came through a different route - looks like they are running a mirror server i.e. its not managed by us. If you drop me an email ([email protected]), I'll make sure our guys call your LA and get it sorted first thing Monday. Our desk is open at 8:00.

We try to check that applicants are who they say they are which can take a while.
