We have one numbering system for all issues. Any school that requires an individual fix for one reason or another increments the number and +22,000 schools use the software daily. I believe that the schools that had performance issues now have fixes. Looking at postings here and on SupportNet it looks as if the CPU usage is not as low as it was before but is manageable and I have taken this up with the development team. There is some front end work (that can't be patched) which will be included in the summer release to address that issue. I recognise that this issue has caused some schools a lot of pain and very much regret that.

There are solutions for iPads - Group Call for example. SLG will also run on any tablet but the challenge you've set is not using an iPad! A Windows 8 device will integrate well with your network and run SIMS directly (not the RT version)

We haven't done anything to cause it not to work as far as we know. We just aren't testing against it any more.

It's all that bureaucracy - so many forms to fill out. In all seriousness though, this was a serious misjudgment in terms of code impact and the re-writing had to be tested thoroughly.

@Sam_Brown I'm afraid we had to get results back from a volunteer LA before we could release to everyone. I note your comment though and will give thought to other ways of working. As a mater of interest, did the emergency patch not return your system to an acceptable speed?

@Stephen_cleaver the patch is a better fix as it doesn't rely on slowing down the polling. Slowing the polling means that you can't rely on the information on the home page being current. I don't think it is likely to fix any reporting issues unless these were caused by overworking of the server.

The patch designed to give a complete fix is now available to support units. If they don't release it to you and you have been impacted then please request it from them.

If teachers ignore email I'd say they'll ignore a SIMS message. As has been said SLT need to exert influence.

Not possible in the current release. Possible in a future one if it bubbles up to the top of the customer priorities list.

That's a great idea but no its not possible! You can send a message to the guilty!

I don't think we could accept that the admin needs to see everything it would go completely against data protection law and we could not entertain doing anything that put schools at risk of revealing data that the user has no right to see.

We are expecting to have the full solution to the speed slow down in large sites/hosted schools available by Friday, Monday at the latest.

A wild guess but we did have an issue with schools that had previously defined tiers and then stopped using them. There is a patch available to fix this. Our desk opens @ 8:00

Agreed but it does happen even to major banks with huge resources to ensure that it doesn't. I'm not anti cloud/hosted far from it but when something breaks it does so on a massive scale!

I would ask your fire service for advice. In all cases that I've heard of they will completely ignore any list you provide and search the building in case the list is wrong.

It was the reference to Adobe not being great that I noticed. I hadn't picked up that this bit was problematic. (I do know about Flash!)

Pretty sure the points data can be drawn from the base data so you don't have to type it in.

There is no staff base data in FMS. FMS draws the personnel data contracts etc and calculates salary commitments. Payroll data can also be imported to check projections against accruals.
