So if your data is in the cloud presumably it gets deleted if you stop paying? Even though the school owns it without doubt can someone else delete it?

Issue now discussed with team and message is hopefully clear. We can't give advice on running clusters but we expect our products to run on clusters without change.

I'll follow this up - we've clearly got a communication issue here.

Sorry to resurrect this one but we've been through all of our cases to locate the advice that you've been given that we "won't support Discover on a cluster" but can't find it. It would be really helpful to have a case reference so that we can speak to the support staff. Here's what I have got back from our desk: The team have all confirmed that they would support SIMS, Discover etc. on clustered solutions as they do that everyday. With regard to not referring a cluster problem to a BA. This is the response: SQL Server clustering is transparent to the application, i.e. applications should not be aware they are running against a cluster, i.e. if it works against a SQL Server, it works against a SQL Server cluster. We don’t test Discover against SQL clusters, again because it should be transparent to the application, so we shouldn't have to.

I'm glad we've been able to resolve the issue and that Discover did not need adjustment to work on the cluster arrangement. The arguments on why we have produced SOLUS3 have been well rehearsed on this site and I can't add anything more than Matt40K has done. I accept SOLUS3 has not been as easy as it should have been and we're working on improving it. There is always an ISO version available if you want to do the install directly.

I will check out the response you got but I think what the desk is saying is they don't have the knowledge to support complex installations. There is nothing about the design of Discover that would prevent it running in this environment in fact I'm sure many LAs have done this. I've spoken to one of the developers and this is his answer: Given they've "recently moved it over" my suspicion is that they have not granted rights to the Discover database within the new servers. This can be fixed by running the command line tools that deploy with Discover. It can also be verified by a quick remote desktop session onto their server. I don't understand a word of this!

I can confirm that we have found a way of forcing a disconnection to Google Authenicator but I'm told that its far being well documented.

I think IP addresses can be spoofed so aren't safe.

I'll check but the problem was we couldn't force a disconnect.

We've postponed using Google Authenticator on Agora as it doesn't force disconnection on publicly available terminals. ( I should add that I'm out of my depth on this)

To be more accurate its based on SIF. We had to make some changes to the way SIF exchanged messages.

@X-13 an interesting suggestion and possibility one with legs. It is possible to have a trusted link into another cloud which would allow no run time password to be required however I think the MIS Cloud supplier would be liable for any data theft even if that occurred via a TP. We are talking eye-wateringly high fines so perhaps some form of bond would be required to protect the MIS vendor? This whole area is very difficult to see a way through so hopefully someone will come up with a suggestion!

@GREED an example of an application that runs against SIMS is Groupcall's exporter taking info to LA systems. @Geoff I'm not convinced that the "something you know" is sufficient as its a constant; I can obtain millions of static passwords from Internet sources. Random characters from the "something you know" would work I think.

Pretty sure you can as Key2Success outputs a thin CTF which can be read into SIMS. How do you get them into Aspen?

Three quick tips: Make sure you make use of result sets they are incredibly powerful and important. If you are going out into Excel a lot you are probably missing a trick. Data needs to be shared by all and as soon as its in Excel it becomes inaccessible and out of date EduGeek is brilliant but do remember specialist assessment knowledge is also available on SupportNet Forums

I would call the fire service and see what they think. In my experience they are not in the least bit interested in what the school thinks - they will search the buildings anyway.
