The only problem is that this will stop the laptop logging on away from the network at all. I think the OP wants the laptop to work fine away from the network for a month, and then insist on being returned to base so to speak. Disabling profile caching could also be "fooled". As long as the user doesn't log out or shutdown (i.e. keeps placing the laptop into standby or hibernate), it will not stop it being used away from the network. Tom

Also, try creating a user in workgroup manager and giving them access to use remote desktop. Then set the remote desktop to run using that users connection credentials - see if that makes any difference either?

Hating to state the obvious and I'm sure you have checked this but is the firewall on the server turned on/set up differently to that on the workstations? If not, I would still try setting it to "Allow all incoming connections" for a minute and see if this lets you connect. I have seen this happen before and turning turning this option on, before reverting back to normal again resolved it. Tom

Take this as an extreme example - I doubt very much that this is a typical discount but my insurance as part of the IAM costs me £657.32 per year through a broker that deals with IAM members only. THe best quote before that I could get was nearly £3500 per year. I think a combination of IAM, postcode, car location etc etc etc made for my massive discount, as I said, I doubt very much that it is typical. IAM on its own should present you with a substantial sum of money off though.

You would be surprised. I'm 22 and my FR costs me approximately £650 to insure which I think is very reasonable. I am a member of the IAM though and I know that that makes a difference.

Definitely don't knock diesel until you have tried a "quick" one. I have a new Seat Leon FR 2.0 TDI with an ABT remap on. It's very very quick for what it is. Running at about 210BHP and very practical as well, giving me about 45 mpg even whilst thrashing it.

Most definitely, I have a lot of equipment in my office at home but that's where it stays! I do enough work during the day and don't have the time or the inclination to be playing with computers after that!

Another vote for i-TRAK. Got a free 12 month account with a laptop bag as well. Now all of my equipment is registered with them. It's a peace of mind thing that if something does get lost - you have a "slightly" better chance of getting it back.

It's always the same when you have been working on something like that for so long. You need other's opinions as what started as a great idea starts to look rather bland to you after long enough! I think it's a great idea though, just as I say, I found it slightly difficult to read and I have perfect eyesight, no problems reading anything, just a little tired at the moment!

I think "the best school network" really is unique to each school. A good network will suit the needs of the school and the users the best way possible.

We had the same problem at the last school I worked at. They kept coming back every night but running off before anybody arrived. I managed to trap them on the roof one night and call the police. Said I had them trapped but was advised to "Let them go", or I would have been in trouble. By the time the PCSO turned up (an hour later), they were long gone

That tends to happen when Google flags your RBC as up to no good. I think I read somewhere a while back that Google won't register RBC's as ISP's and when they get so many requests all of a sudden it looks like something fishy so they lock the service to that IP address. Unfortunately, all of your schools, and other schools networks will be going through that IP address. Rather annoying I know, but it soon sorts itself out usually.
