I like it. It seems to run much better than 2.2.1. As well as all of the "main" features, I keep finding changed settings etc all over the place. I don't like the new Messaging icon though, it looks strange!

We've had this problem caused by Acrobat before - if you have just updated then it could be this. It was something to do with permissions and the reader plug-in for IE although I cannot remember off hand how we managed to cure it. Tom

The camera is a little better (3MP with AutoFocus and Video Recording VS Simple 2MP). The 3GS will let you edit Video directly on the handset. It has a built in compass. The processor is almost twice as fast (real world test speeds). It is available in larger capacity storage models. It has Stereo Bluetooth headphone compatibility (although this may also be available to 3.0 up-graders using an older 3G). I think the most important feature though must be battery life which is rumoured to be much longer than even claimed by Apple. There are a few other things as well but I think I have covered all of the most important differences. Tom

Can you try mounting them into an NTFS folder in disk manager rather than assigning them a drive letter? I know this doesn't really solve your problem but it would certainly rule one or two things out. Tom

May be a silly question but you're not doing incremental backups during the week onto the same tapes are you? If so and you have a no-overwrite policy for 2 weeks, then this could be the cause of the "full" tapes.

No - it's possible but illegal. In the same way I can go out and steal from a supermarket but it's not right - It's possible but illegal. The only legal way to virtualise Apple software, is on Apple hardware - a pain but thats how it is.

I'm fairly sure you can still only run it virtually on Mac hardware. It may or may not work on ESX - but legally I think it's only allowed on Mac hardware. Tom

I think that only the OSX Server has a licence to be able to run virtually. IIRC, the desktop OS does not allow you to legally run it virtually. This may however of changed since the last time I looked. It is physically possible but I don't think it's legally possible - even though as you say, you own the disks and it will be running on Apple hardware.

Don't know if I dare reply to this (why did the user above get banned from the forum?). Anyway, you can change the lock out time and policy without a complete reset of the phone. I have done it several times, it's in the security options part of the settings of the phone. Did you ever have any luck getting MfE working? Would be interested to know if updating to the newer version did in fact cure your issues. Tom

There's been one parked accross the road from my parents house for the past week or so now. Camera folded down and "bagged up". I think the operator may have been abducted! Suprisingly this is in a little village miles from anywhere important but it was seen doing the rounds of the village before parking up.

Can you not use the Scanners and Cameras wizard? I'm fairly sure that will work with the iPhone no problem? Tom

What does it show in the MfE log? If it just says "System Error" then download the latest version - it is MUCH better and solved 90% of my connection problems. I have an E71 on 3 and use it to connect to my mail server. Occasionally it would drop a connection but since upgrading to the new version I haven't had a problem. If you search the Nokia discussion forums you will find a link somewhere to download the new version -although it can be a pita looking for it.

Thank you. I think you've summed up pretty much what I was trying to say (much better than I said it as well ) It's not a bad operating system - but as you said, I think it is being seen as some form of salvation from Vista rather than taking it on it's own credits.

Are they set to continuously restart after failure - rather than just restarting once or twice? Failing that, an if you can't re-image the machine. - Script the services to start upon Machine start up. It's a messy way of doing it but if it works for you then it shouldn't be a problem. Tom

Is it just me, that doesn't like Windows 7 very much? Yes, I accept that it is miles ahead of what Vista ever was (especially at RC stage).It just seems to me there is an awful lot of fuss about not very much as far as a "normal" user is concerned. Despite being a Microsoft Consultant, I have been a heavy Mac user for the past 18 months, using XP for my work. I eventually caved into Vista at the start of this year and have to say was becoming quite impressed with it. Windows 7 was supposed to make the whole process easier, but instead, it seems like change for the sake of change which has made things more difficult. Don't get me wrong, not saying that I hate it - I don't really "get" it at the moment.

I'm sure you have - but when you created the mailbox for the BE account in Exchange, did you give that account mailbox permissions over all of the other mailboxes and storage groups? I had a very similar problem which was resolved by doing the above. Tom

As another point - if you have a backup of your transaction logs, you can script to commit them to the exchange database. This does depend on you backing up your "Host OS" though, or wherever the logs were stored. Tom

Not giving you a 100% guarantee that my answer was what happened in your case - but I have seen that exact same thing several times before! As far as Exchange Backup is concerned I have always used Symantec Backup Exec - it's not cheap though. I know a lot of people don't like this product but I have always found it wonderful for however you want to back anything up. It is modular (i.e. you have to buy an AD module, an Exchange module, an SQL module, a SharePoint module - or whatever you need). The new version has had a lot of criticism as they have changed quite a bit but I like it even more! Tom
