Hmmm, how often do you take full exchange backups? The logs are committed to the exchange database whenever a full exchange backup is done. If this wasn't done for whatever reason between a certain point and your system failure then the database will only be restored back to that time (if that makes sense). Exchange doesn't write directly to the database when users do anything, it writes a transactional log. The database can be as old as whenever the last full backup was taken. Tom

I have set the scroll wheel up to act as right click - which I find not only works well, but prevents the wheel from getting clogged up and so keeping away from the stopping scrolling problem you have mentioned. As you say about battery life - I have had my wireless one for about 5 months now - and it is used all day everyday. The battery life indicator is still showing 3/4 full. Tom

There are a lot of people that don't like the wireless Mighty Mouse but I have one and think it's one of the nicest mice I have ever used. I have a desktop Mac as well with the wired equivalent and even this doesn't feel quite as good. Having a proper Apple Mouse is easier when configuring things such as Expose etc (if you use it). Tom

If it's definitely an iPod you want rather than another brand of MP3 player - the nano is probably the best bet. If you get it directly from the apple store online they will even engrave it for you as a gift (it's also free!). Tom

I got mine from an Apple store in September last year and didn't have to activate it in store - done through iTunes from home. If you wanted to jailbreak it before activating then it is possible. However, as I have previously mentioned, you cannot "unlock" the new firmware for different carriers as the baseband of the phone has been modified. Tom

Exactly - it's only unlocking the network that poses a problem. I have my 2.2.1 3G jailbroken but couldn't unlock it. I'm not really that bothered - around here O2 is about the only carrier with any signal! Tom

Further to this - if it is brand new and the firmware has already been upgraded to 2.2.1 then unlocking is not going to happen. You can jailbreak it but not unlock it to accept other sims. With this firmware upgrade the baseband of the phone itself is also irreversibly upgraded - just a word of warning :-)

Yet another vote for TomTom here. I have had a Go510 for a few years and got on brilliantly with it. A couple of months ago my other half wanted a SatNav so I gave her my 510 and got myself a nice new 540 Live. It's wonderful. Has the new TomTom HD Traffic which utilises mobile phone signals (I think from the Vodafone network) to work out traffic speeds, delays etc.

Thanks for he response - and yes it does make sense. I was just curious as iTunes is a separate application rather than just running a store within a browser. I did see the 24 hour notification when I clicked the link but blindly assumed you had only managed to make the deal with them for the next 24 hours! I will most likely be using it again tomorrow so will PM you with my iTunes user-name, what I bought and when etc if that is any help to you. Not 100% sure about how this works so sorry if this is a stupid question. I use iTunes from a Mac almost every day to either buy or rent something. If I click on the iTunes link, which then opens up the iTunes store - do you get commission simply from this - even using a Mac? Don't know if the system uses tracking cookies or anything.

Well I've learnt something about RM today then :-) First time for everything I had assumed it would be that simple, why would they remove this functionality and only allow you to install "standard" msi's anyway!

I have never dealt with CC4, or CC3, or any CC for that matter so you will have to forgive me if this isn't possible. I know that when assigning an MSI using basic scripting there is something you can put on the end the command such as (server\packages\nameofpackage.msi /mst: server\packages\nameofmstfile.mst) Something like that anyway. Can you do this with CC4 or is it literally just a case of selecting the MSI that you want to use with no modifications?

In that case as FN-GM suggests, add the students group in GP to the option that prevents them logging into machines in a particular OU. If the teachers computers are in a specific OU, then in the group policy settings under computer settings and security there is an option to stop certain users/groups logging in locally. Add the students group into this setting and your students will not be able to log in. Haven't got a Windows Machine with me at the moment so can't remember exactly where the setting is or what it is called but I'm sure somebody else will point it out. Tom
