I'm not too sure but I think that streaming is "less" of an issue to being able to download the file. In effect you are turning your VLE into Pirate Bay :-)

When you say listen to outside of class do you mean streaming or actually being able to download the track for use away from the VLE?

Very true, I never thought of that. I only use it with people that already use Google Calendars, and just to add stuff into their work diaries for them. Could you not use a Joomla calendar with staff write rights? Even better if you are already using it for the school website! I am by no means a web stuff expert so somebody else will hopefully be able to better advise you about a plug in that would do what you want.

Always used to find that I was either too busy, or bored when it was quiet. Don't know what quiet is anymore so any time when I'm not run off my feet I'm grateful!

Depending on how trusting you are of using an external hosting, Google Calendars can be shared. I use several of them for various bits and pieces. Can be secured so that only certain people can add and edit events if you want as well.

I have just tried it on W7 with IE8 and no warning message whatsoever! (Although I am not running any AV at the moment as it is a test VM)

How do your client machines obtain their IP addresses? Do you use DHCP from your Server 2003 box? If you do then the server should be handling the external DNS and the workstations should be referring back to it. You should not have an external IP address as a DNS server on your workstations.

Exactly, I think they are doing the right thing. The technology for GPU processing is exactly the same as the NVidea system you mention, only now it will be a feature built into the core features of the operating system. GPU processor integration is just one of the new features, but there isn't going to be a lot of noticeable new features from a users perspective. I hope for your sake and for mine that I am right about all of this and am not just barking up the completely wrong tree!

Yes and no. There is no such thing as upgrade price as such. If you purchased a Mac after the cut off date, then you are able to get a copy of Snow Leopard provided that you pay the costs of postage, which Apple somehow make to be about £10 ish for a DVD. The £30 (Very approximate there) that I mentioned earlier is the "full whack" price. Just so happens that the whack isnt a very big one this time as Snow Leopard is "evolutionary rather than revolutionary". Plus they are keeping it cheap to help make sure that everybody will upgrade and let the software developers really make the most of the new performance features (such as shifting extra proceessor work onto the GPU). I don't think this is the case with Snow Leopard. It doesn't have many new features as such and is more a refinement of the background running features etc. Apple want everybody to migrate to it so they can start to take advantage of these features with development and such. I think they are deliberately pricing it very low for exactly this reason. I am more than willing to be corrected here though :-)

Will be about £30 retail, so even cheaper for educational licences I would imagine. Will need to be purchased separately though as it is effectively a new operating system (although more a refinement of leopard in reality).
