I've been looking at the RSTP config all morning on our switches. The bridge priorities were all over the place so i've tidied that up. Yes our setup is pretty similar to OP I'm thinking this is the easiest way. I'll be honest, no. I did do a few last half term when I was replacing a few switches, tidied up the cabs at the same time & identified ports not in use & unpatched these.. however i'm sure there are plenty around site which are patched in, which don't need to be. I've been monitoring the logs on the core switch all morning, nothing out of the ordinary so far *edit* When I came in this morning, two of the Netgears were down. I checked them & the uplink port was disabled, so it must be STP..

Apologies for Necro but i've got a question/small issue with STP (I believe - not an expert at switch config). Core switch is a HP 5406 ZL - STP is not enabled on the core. Edge switches are a mix of Mikrotik CRS354 48 Port / Netgear S3300-52X ProSAFE 48-Port / a couple of HP ProCurve 2626 (on the list to change) All edge switches are connected to the core via x1 SFP uplink. RSTP is enabled on all switches besides the HP ProCurve 2626's & the Core switch. Issue : On random occasions 1 / 2 switches will go down (almost always 1 / 2 of the Netgear's) I'm guessing due to the uplink port being disabled by STP. I have had no luck in finding a loop anywhere so far. We had an issue a month or so ago with DHCP & since then this issue has been occurring sproadically. If I'm in front of a switch & look at the activity lights, they seem to be all blinking at the same time, which to me indicates that there is a loop somewhere.. I believe my setup is similar to OP - would you recommend enabling STP on the core also? Best practices of finding a loop - I was thinking of staying late one night & unplugging each edge from the core, one at a time to see if things steady? *edit - Core is L2, all routing is done by the firewall

I inherited an ancient CCTV system a few years back which was running on a Zoostorm desktop PC. From my experience the PC held up well over a few years with no issues, daily use running the cameras & storing recordings. However, if it was me, i would stick with your "main" reputable brands such as Dell, Lenovo, HP, Stone etc..

Situation : User A is currently temporarily suspended. User A has a Microsoft form setup which was sent out to parents, gathering data regarding to new Y7's. We now need to see the responses to this form. User B needs to access this form, however the form was not shared with anyone/stored in a group, and resides solely on User A's SharePoint/OneDrive (wherever forms are stored..) How can I delegate access to User B to view responses to this form? I know I can reset the password to the user account & delegate access this way, however I don't want to do this unless its a last resort.

If you use it, take a look at applocker, I had issues initially with policies blocking certain aspects of Win11, such as settings & a few other things.. Create a test OU & duplicate your applocker GPO to it, set the new duplicate applocker policy to audit only & then test As jthompson said - is there a group policy defining a product version (Windows 10 22H2) for example, thus not allowing further updates?

We only have A1 & if staff want their emails on a personal mobile device, they must register their device to our Intune (install company portal app, device must be compliant). Allows you to revoke access / remotely wipe etc.. Conditional access policies would be nice, however dont get these on A1

Similar to what we do here. Students are all assigned an exam user account (which they do not get given the password for) Invigilator/Myself logs them in before the session. ExamWritePad is used - Exam is saved locally on the C: drive. Robocopy script runs every 5 minutes, copying the exam to the home folder of the exam user, so we always have a copy in two places incase of a disaster. Exams are printed by myself at the end of the session. I have thought about exploring other methods, but what we have works well, and the Exams Officer is perfectly happy with it

I think this is the route i'd want to take, its just the logistics behind it getting it working with no hiccups. It's something that should be simple but really isnt

I did see some other threads mentioning this - I can't see this file even with "hidden items" enabled in the file explorer view. I think this used to be the case in previous windows versions, but not anymore.

Yea i've had a nightmare with folder redirection previously which is why i've been hesitant to touch it thus far.. What you have suggested is 100% the correct way to go about it, but its the transition from how its setup now.

There are plenty of threads about this but.. The way our folder redirection for students is currently setup causes all of their home folders to show as "Documents" in the student share folder when viewed by staff. Causes confusion, as a workaround i've been telling them to enable the "Filename" column in file explorer.. I assume its caused by documents being redirected to the root of the home directory/home folder. I'm wanting to find a proper solution for this now. What's the best practice for redirecting documents? I know I can change the redirect location to a subdirectory in their homefolder which will solve it, but how is the best way to go about moving their documents into the new folder? How reliable is the "move contents to new location"?

It can indeed. We use Sharepoint for ticketing. Its not fantastic, but it works for us, and saves us paying for a hosted solution. Ours does not in clude asset tracking, however we're using quite a dated version of the helpdesk template.. new one maybe does!

Following You could create a sharepoint site and use this as a wiki? Cheapest option & "Cloud" hosted

Or restoring the VM to a previous date This is what I've done Add a TS step "Run Command Line" into the "State Restore" section. I've got mine straight after the application installs. Run Command Line : Basically just runs windows update but only searches for drivers.

MDT is so easy to break lol. Once I got ours working with win11 I only touch it unless absolutely necessary.. As above unless you've got some specific peripheral which requires certain driver/s, i'd let WU handle the drivers. I ditched driver packs a while back & just added a step into my MDT TS after installing applications to grab any drivers from WU. Not had any issues so far with my machines imaged this way

What rights do your users have to the print queue? Are you using a windows print server?

I was looking at this today as we're only on A1 licences. We have 2 users which are over the 100GB limit. One is over by about 50GB, another (drama teacher, lots of video files etc..) is over by about 200GB. We run A1 alongside 365 Apps for Enterprise, which gives you 1TB of OneDrive storage. So no change really with regards the new OneDrive limit
