[sims] LA SIMS Support vs. Capita Website/Forums
sandeep2504 replied to WithoutMotive's topic in MIS Systems
I've been using our LA for sims support recently, logging calls via the web helpdesk, but was told yesterday to stop doing this as it was coming out of a call allocation that we have with the LA? I can't see how web based support calls can count as part of a support contract; maybe someone could explain it to me as most companies dont charge for email support normally? I've started using supportnet for all our sims problems now whereas before it was only for problems with sims mobile. I have to say i do find the supportnet design and drop down menus frustrating sometimes to navigate. I've heard I'll go back to Capita and ask them" a couple of times and i just roll my eyes. I also hate hearing "oh its working on our system so it cant be a problem with sims". -
I love my ps3. Got it through my phone upgrade nice way to spread payments. I also got singstar with it! There are some cracking games for the ps3 only as well; highly recommend you buy Uncharted 2! I couldn't stand the Xbox 360; too much noise and worrying about getting a red ring of death. don't really play my ps3 online these days though; gta iv is a right laugh online, running people over never gets old

I totally agree with you about not seeing it as a problem; if it was me i click a single sheet and continue. I forgot to add that grouping it also greys out functions in the data menu which is why they originally logged the problem because they couldnt sort a spreadsheet because sort was greyed in the menu. Their argument is, it wasnt doing it before, why is it doing it now.

In Excel 2003 Select Data > Group and Outline from the top menu. or select a sheet by using the ctrl button. Basically the functions groups together sheets in an Excel workbook so when you amend one cell it amends the corresponding cells in the other sheets you selected when you grouped it.

well it wasnt office service pack 3. i doubled checked the machines and although my pc has SP3, the office staff pc has service pack 2 just like our test machine. i did think it was stupid that it would be service pack 3, im sure other schools are using sims with sp3 absolutely fine and sp3 has been out for a while now. I am now going compare software on our test machine and affected machines. Driving me up the wall this is! Would be ok if the member of staff would click ungroup and carry on but no she is kicking up a fuss.

Been with Virgin Media/Blueyonder for six years now with their cable internet access. I've only had one problem in those six years and i've always found their speed to be 100% accurate. I would happily to recommend them! Bare in mind they do throttle internet speed after you download x amount of data.

9 to 5 here monday to wednesday, thursday 4:30 finish and friday 4:00 finish. when i first started i was working 8:30 to 5. when they hired an additional tech we had our hours reviewed and staggered. most days i make a point to leave on time. i will sometimes stay behind past five to complete a task so i dont have to worry about it the next morning and not log it as OT. i've been encouraged by my manager to count any out of hours work as time in lieu and as a result i currently have 22 hours from last year to take!

I've had no problems with mine so far. Works great with my PS3! If you are planning to use it with a games console, that particular model doesnt have speakers and the only output is a headphone socket.

we have narrowed this down to being a problem with Office 2003 service pack 3. Running reports on a workstation with service pack 2 has no problems with grouping. Sims support have told us they cant support us anymore. I was wondering if anyone else had problems with Office 2003 SP3 and sims reports. ideally i dont want to remove SP3!
-
all reports - from scratch and from template, doesnt matter what fields, filters are select when you select excel it all exports as grouped sheets group all sheets is not ticked by default on our system ticking it and then unticking it doesnt make a difference its affecting all user accounts i've spoken to sims support and they are as baffled as i am
-
i wondering if anyone knew the solution for this. whenever any member of staff runs a report in sims with any values, fields, no filters/filters with the file type as excel, the excel document automatically groups the sheets when the report is run. i have tried this on various machines, as admin user and i made sure group sheets is not selected in sims

From the Intellectual Property Office website Is there a copyright exception for showing a video to school children? There is an exception to copyright that means that showing a video or DVD to school children may not need a licence from the copyright owners. Whether or not the exception applies will largely depend on the particular circumstances, including the purpose of the showing. The exception will only apply if certain conditions are met: * The video/DVD must be shown in an educational establishment. An 'educational establishment' is defined in copyright law as including any school (colleges offering further or higher education and universities are also 'educational establishments'). 'School' has the meaning given by education legislation: * in relation to England and Wales, the Education Act 1996; * in relation to Scotland, the Education (Scotland) Act 1962 (including approved schools under the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968); and, * in relation to Northern Ireland, the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986. This could mean that play groups, holiday clubs and similar organisations may not fall within the definition of a school, and so may not count as an 'educational establishment'. * The audience must consist only of the children, teachers and others connected with the activities of the school. This will not usually include parents, unless they are, for example, acting as a classroom assistant. * The showing of the video/DVD must be for the purpose of instruction. Of course, there are some videos which are clearly educational and so will be instructional by themselves, but there are others whose main purpose is to entertain. These could still be used provided there is some instructional purpose. If the showing is used to initiate a discussion with a learning outcome, for example, this may be sufficient to meet this condition, but the showing of a video during a wet lunchtime only to entertain the pupils is unlikely to meet this condition.

I have my facebook locked down like fort knox! I find it useful for keeping in contact with friends and family and its quite handy having it all in one place. Another great thing about it is organising social activities using the events applications. So much easier than sending out multiple txts to everyone. I regularly have facebook culls though and i'm not one of those people who claim to have 500 friends. I hate the applications on there like vampires, throwing sheep; i find it a load of nonsense. I cant believe how thick some people are though. People who create groups "i've lost my phone please send me your number" and advertise this on a open group. Duh!

we host it internally and it's installed on our RM server. no real problems with it so far, installed it on server, installed client programs and it's good to go. after the installation we haven't had to touch it apart from updates. client machines need to be a bit meaty to run it smoothly; we have it running on a celeron 2.8ghz and 768ram client machine fine.

To apply an mst on a RM CC3 Network, copy the mst to the application folder and add the following line to the ini file: WITransform=filename.MST
