There has to be a breaking point for consumers at some stage maybe £1.50? I think the goverment know no one is going to protest so they know they can continue to increase taxes every budget. I drove past one petrol station sunday near roehampton it was was 113p and five mins down the road on the a3 at another station it was 118p. yeah we installed image resizer and have been trying to get teachers to teach the pupils to resize pictures/photos yet we are still getting kids coming in with massive powerpoints. I'm going to set up some pdas intructions accessible through the start menu so the kids follow that instead of coming to us though. i guess its changing long term habits. the staff are probably worse tbh; our shared drives are littered with photos straight off digital cameras. luckly for them we dont have quotas...yet.

this is for instances where kids scan photos/pictures or copy digital camera pictures straight into Powerpoint without resizing the images first resulting in massive files. We are a Office 2003 enviroment.

I've just noticed this for the first time. The never ending problem of users saving massive pictures in documents can be solved by: Open a Office 2003 program Go to save as On right hand side of the dialog box you will see tools click this and select compress pictures.. you can now reduce the size of images in a document thus reducing file sizes. happy days!

hopefully someone knows the answer to this. IE8 is playing up on our vanilla network. When you try to reply to an email in web outlook (this opens a new window) and try to click on links on certain sites all you receive it a blank white page and the page doesnt load and just sits there. http://i43.tinypic.com/6jikp3.png This is only affecting computers in a certain AD OU and only started last week Monday and it doesnt matter if you login as an administrator you still cant reply to emails. IE was deployed via a Windows Update ages ago and these problem only started last week monday. i have tried the following without success: reset internet explorer settings to default upgrading pc to Windows XP SP3 moving computers out of the AD OU to another OU checked windows updates - none were applied recently checked group policies and they are the same policies which are applied to the working computers some software was removed from the OU (flash 7 and Adobe Reader 8.11) recently but i dont see it causing the problem there are no relevant messages in event log i am about to try reinstalling IE8. the only workaround at the moment is to install FireFox. Can anyone think of anything or a reason why??

the bit i wasnt sure about with those is do they come just as a faceplate or do they come with all the connection parts as well?

Does anyone know the correct terminology for the vga port on a faceplate? http://img.misco.co.uk/images/uploadedimages/large/20090708131423.jpg I need to purchase a replacement vga port for a faceplate for a teacher and i have no idea what search for. When you open the faceplate it's basically the end of a vga cable chopped off and you solder the vga cable coming from the projector onto the back of the vga port.

These come on a disc with the book when you purchase the MS Press Books. Not sure if you can buy the ebooks only though.

we removed flash by running two batch files. one to copy the flash uninstaller to the computers. the other to run the flash unistaller remotely. this was done using psexec, vbs script and batch files. Would you be interested? I would be happy to email them to you if you want to PM me.

there is a thread on here about how to give appropriate permissions using group policy. no scripts required.

Laura Have you checked for log files on c drive? We recently did the following to clear up c drive as we were have continous problems with c drive being full up: as webman said moved page file backup exec - moved the catalogue files and job logs to g drive moved our library system backups to g drive redirected any sql database backups to d drive removed/installed software on d/g drives we have now got more than 2gb free.

Didn't even know that Microsoft were considering something similar! I think Microsoft Certificates expiring naturally like you said until the end of the product life cycle makes more sense.

just be aware compTIA are imposing a 3year limit on their certificates from 1st January 2011. "anyone who is awarded an A+, Network+ or Security+ certification before the end of 2010 will have that qualification for life. The three-year limit will be instituted for anyone who gets certification after 1 January, 2011"

I don't suppose you know how to analyse these logs? I can't see anything obvious such as error xxxx or mail delivery failed in the logs.

If you choose the self studying route dont forget with virtualisation you can take a hands on approach to learning. The microsoft learning site has a section with a organisation chart and job descriptions and what qualifications you need to get those jobs. Another alternative is asking the school to pay for either books or exam fees if you can afford one or the other. I am currently self studying MCDST and i have put in a training request hoping my employers will contribute to exam fees and/or books. You could also try signing up to the certforums website. A lot advice on there.

When our child protection officer sends an email from her school email account (using both OWA and Outlook 2003) to her hotmail account, it never arrives. When i send an from my school email account to her hotmail address it arrives successfully. When she sends an email from her school email account to my hotmail address it arrives sucessfully. I have checked the junk email folder on hotmail and other members of staff can send emails to and from hotmail accounts. I don't receive any failure reports either. I have checked Exchange Server Message Tracking and it all seems to be ok. Can anyone think why the above problem would be happening or suggest a way of troubleshooting the problem as i have no idea!
