we use lanview you have to install the client on every machine but there is a msi available on the website. Install the server on a machine, you will have to make sure that the pc's motherboards support WOL (wake on lan), using lanview you can then start up and shut the machines down. Lanview server itself has a scheduling facility which i use to shutdown and start up the machines everyday

I find the constant battle of removing students games is never ending, the best thing i think to do regarding this is to stop fighting them by deleting them as all they do is put them back, we started to reduce there quota and passing the culprits name on to there tutors and letting them deal with them. I know you want to remove rubbish they put on and clean everything up, but the real issue is how they get them there in the first place, by teachers and other staff not watching what they are doing. I used to spend hours on searching, but in the end, i set up usbdlm and blocked exe's on the usb drives. and i leave the rest up to the teachers, if the kids play on games they are wasting there own time not mine.

Yes thats right what version of activstudio are you using, and what model whiteboards do you have. Just download the new driver from the promethean website and try that out. What version driver are you currently using.

What we do here for our activvotes, i set them all up on one board and added each activvote. This then saves the list in the the location C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Activ Software\Device Registration\activote.dev & C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Activ Software\Device Registration\activote.dev Created a simple batch file to replace that each time the user logs on, as i found alot of the time problems arose with staff fiddling around and changing the order on the computer. I would add them all then take a copy of the activote.dev file. We have sharepoint installed on one of our servers but havn't had a chance to even look into it yet. From the brief time i spent looking at it, it looked good but was a bit complicated. Anyone have any tutorials on using sharepoint and the kind of things you can use it for.

We have just bought 3 laptops, carry cases, docking station from CP Ltd, after having loads of problems with finding a supplier that the head liked the price of. We were originally quoted over £1100 which was too much, contacted Simon about this and he was able to offer all those for £800 each. I thinks sometimes to get the point across you have to do the bare minimum of what your job entails until that they understand that you cannot be everywhere and do everything. When you said you have done 10 hours, are you meant to be doing 10 hours.

Have added the msi which has been zipped. Inside are two msi's one in the folder audacity, that is the main program and the other is Audacity MP3 Plugin that just puts the lame plugin in to the folder c:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins\lame Next add the vbs script to logon for users it is located, the Audacity MP3 Plugin. Nope dont have CC3, just normal Server 2003 and XP i think it is set in GP at the highest point, i would alter it but i would have to readjust it for the other staff and students, it was set up before i started. None of the windows shortcuts work.

All the windows shortcuts are disabled here, even for me.

Agree with everyone else, i feel the amount of time and commitment i put in, that i should not be paid this poor wage, plus there is a lot of skill and knowledge required to do the job, whether it be network side or just technical side, unfortunately i do both. Sometimes i think BSF will help sort out these problems too, a bigger company may be able to pay better or understand the roles better than most LEA wage structure.

Shirt and tie here too, i can understand they want us to look professional, but when we crawl around on our knees fixing something it is easy to get shirt and trousers dirty. Plus i don't find it easy to keep cool in a shirt and tie, especially if i have to run from one room to another. Luckily there is the server room with air con to cool down. Just had to buy another load of shirts, trouser and shoes as the others are knackered, had them a while tho, usually get my worth out of them, even if they do get a bit tatty, no one has said anything yet but if they did i'd just explain what do they expect if i am always constantly on the move trying to fix stuff.

Could you try a system restore from when it worked.

I just checked and our list blocks first then unblocks. I was told this is how it was meant to be. Will try the other way see how that works out.

Users here are currently getting disk is full error on one of our shared area's now yes i know they need to empty there stuff out, but the servers disk still has space on it, and i was wondering how does it work out how much space is left, is there someway of having quota's on shared drives. I didn't set the server up but the partition that the shared folder is on, the students data is on as well, and the quotas are set up for students on there, would this affect it some how. Thanks

We had something similar and it was a problem with the drum unit of the specific colour, the kids had damaged it somehow. We have the C5700. What does it show when you connect to the printer via its IP.

I would try with the clean image and install either v11 or v10 of shockwave and see what happens. It may be a problem with it being intergrated within the image. Other than that i dont know what else to suggest, the fact it works with admin and not users makes it sound like permissons to something. could you try giving access to the system32 folder. or the system32\macromed\Shockwave 10 in v10 or system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 in v11

You need to use the Autoit program here compile it to exe and you can then add it to cp on startup. It wont work as a batch file.

Does anyone have any experience in using the cachepilot v4 and the smartfilter category's as for example i have ticked Forum, Bulletin Boards on the category's. How do i then allow any website that happens to be filtered by smartfilter in that category. Up to now i have had to add it to the Global Permitted Whitelist and that worked for a while, but if i want to block for students and allow for staff, being in the Global Permitted Whitelist it unblocks for everyone even if i then add it to the student black list. Would appreciate any help.

Is it anything with shockwave that does not work or just those two specific sites. Have you tried rebuilding that specific machine to see if it comes up again.

Ofstead are coming to our place soon, we are getting teachers coming in demanding us to do all sorts of stuff.

Have you changed the driver on the computer, we had the older boardmate boards and they do not work fully with the new activstudio, we found that we had that problem too, we had to get a seperate activhub to connect each board to the new activdriver. Another way around it was to use the old driver that came with the boardmate board.
