Does anyone have this piece of software and have they been successful in deploying the license key as MindJet when i called them told me that it was not possible to do this, so having a site licence means going round activating every PC. I really do not want to do this! Thanks Tom

I second that, far to many laptops are bought in cheap and then are a complete nightmare to manage. I've yet to see a kid proof laptop.

Back at school today as it decided to rain and spoil me having another day off.

Loads of snow here, loads of kids in school, hardly any staff, no idea what is going to happen i heard rumors of sending all the rest home and keeping the year 11 in.

I think if you don't report it, then next time someone else may not be so lucky. Yes maybe it was an accident, but that person really should be making certain the right medication is given to the right patient. If the outcome was different, yes it was an accident but you were not so lucky this time, would you still want to just keep it quiet and say it was an accident. Same thing happened but it was the outcome that was different, doesn't make the mistake an less serious.

Good idea might have a play see what i can find, i am past caring about it right now, mabye on monday i will be bothered to sort this out, i am the right mind of put them all on channel 1 let hell break loose and wait for them to either, scrap laptops altogether or get managed system in. Either way i will get the blame for it not working.

I have tried to plan each AP and set them on either channel 1 6 or 11 around school, to be honest i think they all overlap each other anyway, i can't figure out away to get them to not conflict with each other. The only thing i have noticed is for the laptop trolleys to work i had to set the AP to channel 2, any other channel and they drop all the time. Might have another go at mapping out the channels around school again and reduce signal strength, to see if the performance improves.

I have wandered around the school many times using netstumbler, i know the channels are all conflicting with each other. I wish i could just turn them all off. but i would just end up with student after student coming asking "why isn't the domain available"

Hi Mark I have actually spoken to you and you emailed me a few quotes to pass up, but i dont think there is any budget to go ahead with anything, currently just waiting still. For now i have decided to forget about the 3Com ones and have put two older ones in the room and they seem to be coping with the laptops far better. I know it will still run slow but its all i have to work with right now.

We use windows wireless to connect them, for some reason some computers connect straight away some come up with limited or no connection, i then either change the channel on the AP and it sorts it out or reboot it and it sorts it out. If i put them all on the tables and connected them, no they wouldnt pick up an IP if i logged on as a local admin and then rebooted the AP they would all then get an IP. We have other wireless AP around school, no idea how far they cover, i would bet they are the problem but if i turn them off you can bet someone will need the other trolley that uses them. I hate the trolleys so much, just had the head asking about them, explained again and again but when they hear the cost they stop asking.

well we have only bought 1 for each trolley as they said they could handle up to 64 i never believed it. Looked at managed solution but it was like 19k. They eventually get on but it takes a few reboots of the access point.

We have just bought some laptop trolley that will hold 30 laptops in each, and got a 3com 7760 AP for each, the laptops connect to the AP fine but for some reason every now and again, they will come up with limited connection, i restart them and they they connect again. Other times i have to turn them all on and then reboot the AP. But even doing that does not guarantee that the next day when they turn them on they will connect again. I hate laptops trolleys and Wireless!

Have to admit on the data recovery prices i just put anything down, what would you suggest?

One request a lot of teachers ask me is if the booking form can be set up so they can add equipment for other staff to book, for example the maths department have calculators, making them bookable but being able to set it so that only the maths department can book them. One thing i don't like about roombookingsystems.co.uk as its mainly based on rooms and not equipment, we have gotten around this by just adding digital cameras and video recorders as if they are rooms, but being able to book resources and equipment is a must. (Pretty much was Edu-IT said, lol)

Toshiba L300D and L300 have poor battery life, we had to order the extended batterys at a further cost. Each laptops lasts on average 2 - 3 hours depending on strain.

Is this one any good i was zipping them with 7zip but i have just used the one that comes with windows to see if that solves the problem.audacity.zip

We just purchased roombookingsystems.co.uk and whilst it does the job, i personally don't like it. But as working for a school where staff would need the booking system to be available outside of school, a hosted option would be great. Our school for example feels hosting and setting up security for outside access would be a risk, mainly as we do not have the required knowledge to do this. If it was up to me i would host website, classroombookingsystem,vle, email, but unfortunatley i dont have that authority.

I put the images up so i could reduce spam, i was looking in to a php form but not had chance to create anything but it is on the list. Anyone know how to create a email form in php? The stars after the prices are a mistake in the code, from when transferring from dreamweaver, though i had changed them all but i missed that page. The logo is temporary as i hopefully will get some nice looking logo up soon and add a favicon. I figured to put something up. The logo i think will include the email and phone number, once i get a spare sim card. Waiting for o2 to deliver.

Any advice on what i could charge.

I agree i would love to go, but i cannot afford to go to london, and school wouldn't be interested in paying for me to go.
