I'm fairly sure our cubase install has those in program files, so unless Dorico has changed settings I'd be fairly sure they will work from anywhere - we certainly don't have profiles any more and have all those VSTS in program files. I'll take a closer look when time allows!

Indeed, hence why care is needed. You can immediately write off anything that's just "JB" with no other mention in the email/thread, so you'd need to carry out the search for "Joe B" "J Bloggs" etc as well - all the email systems' built in GDPR tools will do that with ease. That will also include email threads too - at least with Office 365, you can select conversation threads so if a thread has Joe B mentioned once but JB throughout the rest of the conversation in future emails then you can pull the whole thread and redact anything that isn't relevant. You MUST make sure the requester is aware of this however and explain reasons behind it - not sure if that's a requirement of the law but it's certainly good practice/manners anyway

Indeed, it is a form of obfuscation used by many - but it's a technological pitfall more than anything else. I mean, search this forum for any 2 characters and you will hit every single thread ever. It needs specialist tools i.e. regex just to get initials with a space either side and that doesn't help narrow down all the two letter words from initials. As a result. it is absolutely unenforceable.

An SAR for initials alone is unworkable, you are within rights to dismiss that - however have you misunderstood - i.e. middle initials? (Joe D. Bloggs for example)

This weekend watched: The Suicide Squad. Just as ADHD-like as the last attempt but far crazier. Definitely a James Gunn film. Some attempts at Edgar-Wright still filmography which were a little jarring to be honest, but it was a far better effort and I enjoyed the majority of it for a brain-in-neutral experience. The Hitman's Bodyguard's Wife. Absolutely loved this film. More action than the first and just as funny. LOVE the pairing of Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. Don't need an excuse to love Morgan Freeman. And just outright love Salma Hayek. Both filthy, filthy films.

PS3's are reasonably reliable short of drive issues and those are usually cleaning matters - 2's and 4's were shoddy (dust ingress & overheating on both).

Just do it - you can pick up PS3's for a tenner a pop with games and controllers. Our local auction house has them and PS4's in every other week and they often sell in batches of 3 for 20 quid (the ps4's usually go for about 40).

Wouldn't be an issue until I have to go through all the files with stupid names over 255 characters long that won't otherwise migrate. C:\I dont get\why people\feel the need\to organise\into folders\foreverylittlething\1. then decide to\2. have duplicates of those folders\3. within other folders\and then have a load of files\deep inside those folders\who's filenames were lifted from the entire\first paragraph of the file they were working on\because they couldnt\be bothered to\correctly\save\their\work.docx

We've used the SHARP system for years, it is anonymous if they want it to be. Yes it can lead to false positives and abuse, but after the initial spate you'd get, if you have anything like Impero or Senso you can find out who quite easily and resolve it. Word gets round easy enough.

Very much so - the level of IT taught in many primaries is below acceptable standards IMO. We rarely have people come up to our secondary who are even aware of the function of the Shift key. These are the same people that get in all sorts of trouble on a Chromebook as it doesn't have the caps lock they know and love.

Have done the above very recently but limited to files created prior to 1 month ago - ~ prefixes quite a few autorecovery documents which have often got people out of a tight spot with our help! Certainly worth doing - I think my method was searching on ~$*.* or something.
