PS3's are reasonably reliable short of drive issues and those are usually cleaning matters - 2's and 4's were shoddy (dust ingress & overheating on both).

Just do it - you can pick up PS3's for a tenner a pop with games and controllers. Our local auction house has them and PS4's in every other week and they often sell in batches of 3 for 20 quid (the ps4's usually go for about 40).

We've used the SHARP system for years, it is anonymous if they want it to be. Yes it can lead to false positives and abuse, but after the initial spate you'd get, if you have anything like Impero or Senso you can find out who quite easily and resolve it. Word gets round easy enough.

Very much so - the level of IT taught in many primaries is below acceptable standards IMO. We rarely have people come up to our secondary who are even aware of the function of the Shift key. These are the same people that get in all sorts of trouble on a Chromebook as it doesn't have the caps lock they know and love.

Have done the above very recently but limited to files created prior to 1 month ago - ~ prefixes quite a few autorecovery documents which have often got people out of a tight spot with our help! Certainly worth doing - I think my method was searching on ~$*.* or something.

As above, used FS.com for years and never, ever had an issue + full warranty on all of it should something stop working. Used on Ubiquiti & Aruba/HPE without problem.

There's a few solutions available for remote connected devices, both from a provider level and a local management level (i.e. Lightspeed filtering, Senso management). I do however wonder what the actual requirement is - *is it* a requirement for schools to provide filtered access? I assume the only reason this is likely to be the case is because the school are providing it so covering themselves for liability reasons?

Definitely thin image. SCCM or MDT if you're secondary, or MDT if primary. Plenty of guides - SCCM best guides are windowsnoob.com and MDT is really well documented - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-windows-mdt/deploy-a-windows-10-image-using-mdt and needs no further investment in tech or cost. SCCM has benefits such as full AV and patch management, inventory control, simplified unifications with Azure, Office 365 etc which is definitely beneficial in larger estates.

All the better MIS providers will be able to pull in all of this data, historical or otherwise - unsure why you would need anything separate. Have you spoken to the new provider?

We've gone for geoblocking known "bad actor" countries such as brazil, china, venezuala etc. One false positive in circa 8 years.
