We did this the first year before going to Salamander. Massively regretted it, caused HUGE issues with duplicate classes and mess everywhere It's not the most intuitive of systems.

Working on how Salamander does it (which is via SDS) every year, every subject is a new team regardless - multi-year courses would then just need the relevant resources copying from the archived team to the new.

Is anyone getting out of order filesets coming through on their Solus? We're on 1801 which I believe is latest current, and since that release 1707 and 1708 have both been "released" to us for last autumn's release. Not sure who's more confused, me or ESS.

We're looking at having weekly assignment emails sent to parents via Teams and have one large concern. We use Salamander (full) to sync everything with SIMS, however one apparent shortcoming of Office 365 SDS is that whilst you can add email addresses, you can't amend them or delete (automatically). This is a major safeguarding concern. Whilst we can have a manual process in place, we'd rather have this automated but at the same time wonder how anyone else does it, or even if you're aware of such a limitation. So for example, child A's guardian is removed from SIMS because of a legal issue with no contact being possible. They were a priority 1 contact, and further contact would be a problem. Would like to hear what others are doing or if anyone else is aware of this?

I won't often defend Capita/SIMS having worked for them, but I will point out issues & delays would have nearly always been caused by a lack of funding/support from above.

Agreed. As much as I'd like to get rid of Impero, we absolutely need it currently as Senso isn't there yet for the management side of things. Our MAT are however working closely with them to improve things, fingers crossed! Just thankful we have a perpetual license for Impero, so we're OK unless we need to upgrade it!

Yup, cheapest way I could get my 3060 was by buying a whole system for £1k (plus better ram and a 1TB NVME SSD), swapping that and the new bits out for the old ones in mine (inc a GTX 970) and selling the old system for £600. Works out that assuming the 970 is worth £150 currently and the SSD was £90, then I've effectively got the 3060 for £260 plus an upgrade to my RAM and mainboard as a bonus. I paid £200 for a pair of my old 970's a few years ago, immediately sold one for £150 back then. It's madness

Absolutely - we're moving to a more online world, cloud only schools, 1:1/BYOD and that already wobbly line between privacy and safeguarding is getting hazier ever day. One reason for that is that the device isn't always aware or cares where in the world it is - pretty much only one thing between "on site" and "off site" is the school's wifi & public IP (and then with ipv6/IOT that might be even blurrier!) I don't think anyone has any definitive answers for this, there's a million scenarios so it would be nice to find a reasonable consensus!

Nobody. Seemed a decent enough premise on the trailer. First half was entirely diabolical. Second half a vast improvement. Christopher Lloyd the only real saving grace. Impossible not to draw comparisons to John Wick. I'm sure I saw this as a sort of conditional access option - I'll take a look when I've stopped swearing at SIMS and our new LEA It's an interesting thing to follow hence my interest and hoisting upon thee my opinion as this will certainly become more common, and I suspect other providers may follow suit either by default or as an option.

I'm afraid I have to suggest revisiting your thoughts on "monitoring" devices from home, more specifically that they're not "monitored". If the device belongs to the school and they sign a relevant agreement for it, then there shouldn't be an issue. What they browse on it shouldn't necessarily be down to you to configure (you can keep keyword reporting on but disable any filtering when off-site) BUT with a device provided by you as a school, and they do something they shouldn't could liability shift? Could the school cop some responsibility? You also don't have to have Senso active when it's not on your site. What if Senso picks up keywords and behaviour, flagging them up to you that would otherwise go unnoticed at home? Perhaps home IS the problem and they are not able to escape it? Perhaps it catches something, the school acts on it and before you know it, you've saved a kids life. Lots of pros and cons, but a discussion with your senior leadership would go a long way. You may not agree, they may not, perhaps minds will be changed.
