The whole thing with Authenticator is that it doesn't need a data connection to work, just for the initial setup. It uses the phone's time and the seed you used when setting up to generate the right code. Anyway, Authenticator/phone where possible. Where it isn't possible or staff object, they get their first Yubikey free. Surprisingly a few of them have gone missing, but those people are perfectly happy to use their phone once they may be out of pocket

I have to ask, how did you approach this from a cultural change and shift approach? Many people treat their email as a file store, we need to get that culture shifted.

It's on. As much as those things could be a problem there has to be a level of responsibility put on users. If they go and sign into their browser with a work account and then look at unsavoury content then that is a them problem. You could always limit logins to managed devices only if it's that big an issue.

With OpenOffice/WPSOffice/Google Docs/Office Online/iCloud all available for free, I can't see why the vast majority of people would even need Office, unless there is a feature they absolutely need that they cannot find in any other Office suite.

No, they really haven't. Especially whilst the wages of a school IT Tech in 2003 are still considered the going rate for the same jobs in 2023. Until education realises that it needs to compete, then education IT will have plenty of room for self-taught, retiree enthusiasts and trainees because it's all it's willing to afford.

I can certainly see the benefit of natural language models being built into an MIS. Especially for less technical staff who want to retrieve assessment information without having to have the technical chops to use tools like Looker or Power BI. Eventually you could use AI and natural language models to do things like arrange cover, or pull room occupancy statistics. It's potentially an exciting area of development though I think like OpenAI and Bard it's going to be baby steps forward.
