Wubbalubbadub Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Hi all, Signed up a while back when i got my first full time job as an IT-Technican. Only just started to get into the site. Lots of interesting stuff, everyone seems nice and friendly. Will be great to get to know some people. Matthew
Dos_Box Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I'll put this in the 'Introduce yourself' thread. Oh and welcome
glennda Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Already started posting around the forums but figured I better make a proper introduction! I'm Tom (can't stand being called Thomas,) I finished school in 2009, went straight on to a college course for two years (finished that last July) and got a job as a local Primary School's IT Technician about 4 months after! Yeah, I'm only 18 so I'm probably amongst the small group of being the youngest in this 'profession' here *nervously smiles at all you veterans!* It's pretty neat, but also quite intimidating. My NM is a great guy though, always supports me and is more than willing to teach me new things! It's surprising how much I've already learnt in such a short space of time, looking back at my college course it seems pants compared to learning on the actual job itself! (I know, I talk too much.) Anyway, I'm glad to be here. This place seems to have a great bunch of people involved and it's nice to know that if I'm in dire straits I can turn here for help! So hello to all of you! Not the only young one! (although I feel I'm getting on now at nearly 21!!) Hope you enjoy working! I first started in schools 4 years ago and am just leaving me second having been running it for 2 1/2 years!
hardtailstar Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Hi Im Bill, I work in two primary schools as the Technician on my own! so should really be the network manager! but the schools cant afford the wages! lol
Fleetwood Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Not the only young one! (although I feel I'm getting on now at nearly 21!!) Hope you enjoy working! I first started in schools 4 years ago and am just leaving me second having been running it for 2 1/2 years! Haha, oh god - don't let me reach that age then if that's how it feels! I've really enjoyed working I've learnt more from being here in 4 months than I did on that 2-year course, it's ridiculous really! But I do love it, I'm already having those "I hope one day I'll be able to just do something from the bottom up" but that's probably a bit to ambitious for me just yet, haha. How did you get on there? I assume School #3 is offering something better?
AdamICT Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hello fellow edugeek's! I'm Adam, i'm 20 and from central Lancashire, I've been working in IT since the first day of leaving school, worked in schools for 2 years and private sector for 3 years. Currently working freelance as a web developer utilizing my skills while i'm not in work. Also working hard applying for the rare amount of ICT Tech work there is going at the moment in this area. Desperately want to get back into education/public sector. Besides all that I'm a self confessed apple fanboy, a trekie & marvel fan. I've been a member here for a while but couldn't remember my previous account details as I haven't used the forums in a while. Will be doing a lot more now though. I look forward to being a part of this fantastic community! (again!)

Hands Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Hands -- Hi! I'm a very seasoned, wireless (LTE) SW test Engineer. I'm trying to learn Macros, and VB for Excel. Having a hell of a time.
vikpaw Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Good everybody. @Hands you've come to the right place. Plenty of coders around. I dabble a bit of vb and script but there are far more experienced macro writers here. Rather than pose questions in a blog, you'll be better off finding a suitable forum depending on the purpose of your task or just opt for coding or office forums.
EduTech Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Welcome to EduGeek all of the new users who have joined recently! :-) James.
