Just sorted this with a GUI and got rid of the bat files using Visual C#. Thank you both for your inputs.

Thanks rrrrr. I have setup a GUI for it using Visual studio and sorted out a different job on my list through this. Unfortunately my VB scripting is not great and I cant figure out the last part I need. Basically what I want to happen when they press send is: -copy file from location A to B -replace # within the file to whatever text they have put in the textbox in the GUI -run the bat file Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All Currently I have setup bat files that deliver predefined alerts such as "indoor break" to specific computers that SLT are able to run. I do this with the following: msg * /server:COMPUTERNAME /time:600 ALERTTOSEND What I would like to do is allow SLT to write there own alerts instead of having predefined alerts and was wondering if anyone knows a way of doing this? Email is not really an option as staff don't always check and they want the alert to be on top of any other open windows. I know you can buy software for this but don't really want to spend any money to achieve this. Thanks ITTec

Hi All Hoping someone will know the answer to this as it will be a good win for us. I have created a basic Powershell script to shutdown computers from a csv file. Any computer that is on it switches off and any computer that has someone logged into is left on. The issue i'm having is when it gets to a computer that is switched off already it takes 20 seconds before it moves onto the next computer. The question is, is there a way to reduce the time it takes to move onto the next computer? Thanks ITTec

There is but we were quoted the same price for the same speed by a few different companies so felt we would go with wired over wireless.

Yeah I understand that, but with most things the decision was financial. Our current network setup is not ideal and it will be migrated within 12 months at which point we will look at this again and see where we stand. The sites are 300 yards apart so we can put workarounds in place if needs be

We have about 40 computers at site B. But at most we will have 30 users logged on with about 10 being logged on from the morning to end of the day so should be able to cope with that.

Thanks Jamesreedersmith. With it getting closer to the summer I wanted to make sure everything was in place and I started to double guess myself.

I admit my knowledge on this isn't great but it was my understanding you could use layer 3 switches to do this? Never used pfsense before but will look into it now Thanks

We are getting Ethernet Access Direct 100Mb line between the sites

Hi All, I have a query which I believe I know the answer to but just need confirmation that it is right. Basically we now have two sites and in the summer there will be a direct connection (or as direct as BT will allow) put in place. We are getting rid of the servers from Site B and joining the computers from site B to site A's domain. I believe I would need a router or layer 3 switch to point all the switches to Site A. We currently have 1 layer 3 switch so would this be enough to achieve what I need? I admit this isn't my strong point so any help would be appreciated. ITTec
