Hi all,

I'm currently working as a Data Officer in an independent school in SW London. I'm about to interview for a Data Manager role at a state school and I'm really excited but, nervous as anything. I'm way out of my comfort zone so I'm really glad I found this site. In for a penny...

Hello everyone,

 

Just thought I'd make a short introduction. I just got my first job after uni as an ICT Technician in a Studio school, I'm looking forward to starting next week. I found this place a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it will be invaluable. If/when I need help, I know where to come!

I'm an ICT Technician at a secondary school in Somerset. I've used this site for some time but had never signed up, just thought maybe it's about time I did :D

Yep, I'm the whole dept.

 

Technically I'm an assistant network manager as we are apparently not a large enough school to need a fully blown network manager!

:welcome: You are not alone. :) Well you aren't alone on here anyway. I joined edugeek as the IT department of my school... there are many of us in the same boat on here. Edugeek is a lifesaver for loan techs. The advantage of being a department of one is that you can use whatever job title suits the occasion; Network Manager when you need to pull rank and "just a technician" when you need to get rid of sales-drones :D

Hi, new around here; first post. Looking to buy an iMac and learn if that is a good or bad decision, lol.

I have been a pc user until this next purchase, but do have and love my iPhone and iPad.

I started a tiny company called Rocket Education (Rocket Education) and am building a new product for tutors/students for assignment management. And as a professional geek I want to make sure I know what to do to keep IT departments happy!

I was a long time member(lurker) but rare contributor to edugeek, my Academy just squeezed through the doors of BSF and had a new build which completed in April 13. In the run up to a TUPE to the new managed IT service and my year working for them I've not visited Edugeek particularly often anymore. I have enjoyed working in the new managed service and probably would be happy to do so for a while longer however an opportunity has come up recently for me to apply for a vacant Data Manager position within the Academy. The pay is great and it's a chance to really carve out a career in what is an integral role so I hope things pan out in that respect, I've given what I believe is a strong interview yesterday and just await feedback next week.

 

In light of the career change and as I appear to be locked out of my old account I'm starting again, the primary draw is when I came across the Edugeek Data manager group in preparing for my interview, but in looking over the site I also remembered what a great community this is.

Hi all,

 

I just recently graduated from college, and during my four years there I was an IT technician, repairing software and hardware issues on laptops. Now I've started a small software company that aims to help students stay organized and excel in their studies.

 

I am passionate about IT and am always trying to learn more and help others as well!

I work for a SIMS support desk and have been here for 3 years now. I originally started as an apprentice and think it's a brilliant way to get young people into IT related jobs.
