The pre-release notes are out!

Expect the first iteration by COB Friday 26th October

My highlights:

Marksheets will at long last allow greater than 225 columns, so you can put all of your eggs in one basket! So long as you're running above Excel 2007.

Teachers can only delete detentions created by themselves. Shame this isn't extended to behaviour incidents.

Lots of enhancements to Discover, Fees and FMS

Nova T6 allows multi print timetables before sending to SIMS, easier editing of timetables, and more analysis reports.

Multiple leaving dates allowed in Personnel.

Documentation linked to Capita Server online - which could be a pain if you don't take an update but get the latest manual.

Extra reports functionality in Student Lists and extra medical related fields can be reported on.

SLG - marksheets will auto save, and attendance is improved for iPad.

Filter and print default password rows from SysMan7 :)

Finally, Support for SIMS and FMS on SQL 2012 - but the migration tools wont come until Spring 2013.

We've thought of that - you get the manual that applies to the version of SIMS you are running. This change will vastly decrease the upgrade package size. The manuals include links to video demos.

Have they got the redesigned home screen/calendar in for this release? Was sure it was this release they were including it in, but I may be wrong!!

Shame you couldn't get the next version of SOLUS3 out first. Shame, but it'll be worth the wait. Having said that, we'll be on Autumn 2012 v2 by then ;)

Surely less than 4 this time? When are you guys looking to deploy?

We usually go for the first day of Christmas holidays, but everyone is off on holidays this time round so not too sure when to schedule it in - It definelty will not be the halft term holiday when it's just been released (first time round...if it's on time!)

Had an e-mail from Capita today to say that all emails sent out to parents or teachers will not have the Capita or any other disclaimer at the

end of them, before we take the update.

Not sure what to do really as I don't think we will update straight away, but we need some sort of disclaimer on our e-mails. Is the best option to manually add this on until the update comes out?

Thanks in advance

The disclaimer is currently automatic one produced by capita at the end of all e-mails we send.

Saying any information is that of our schools, and cannot be copied. It also states views are that of the author and not of the school.

Well... I suppose its better than Capita releasing the update, withdrawing it and then re-releasing it.

SIMS 2012 Autumn Release Delay

Following additional extensive testing of the SIMS Autumn 2012 release, we have found issues in our final release candidate.

In order to accommodate the time to fix the issues and complete a new round of regression and deployment testing we will need to revise our release date, which I will communicate to you on Wednesday 7th November.

I apologise for any inconvenience this delay may have caused and appreciate your patience.
