Not getting any new medical notes functionality either. There's a new built-in report that shows the notes, but i could do that before. No more linking seems to be there to actually tie the note to the condition / event it was entered against.

ran it last night and had to manually run all the client upgrades as it wasnt triggered in the usual way.

LEA has said its permissions which are the problem even though nothing has changed on our system since the last release.

 

ideas or suggestions?

as i dont want to have to manually do it on 40+ workstations again lol

How do you mean manually? Running SIMSInst to install SIMS, or just running SIMS in the normal way but as an admin account?

What is the shortcut that the user runs pointing to? Is it SIMSLoad.exe then it should have pulsar as a parameter. Updates wouldn't take place if for some reason, the shortcut just points to Pulsar.exe.

On Windows 7, if you click Start / Windows Circle (whatever it's called) and type SIMS, it doesn't always give the correct link, and a lot of my users had pinned pulsar to the start menu, which was fine until an update.

If it is permissions, check the simsperm.bat file for an idea of what permissions they need. Often permissions over the local drive are missing, especially prog files and temp, but it depends when it last worked on your network and what changes have happened in between...

Very Minor issue:

Schoolcomms will be removed from the SIMS Focus menu and Student Details screens on the 1st January 2013

It's only a problem if you're on Autumn and need to access via the Focus menu. You can just run it from the desktop icon / start menu and it will be fine, or just use the web interface.

pulsar only runs sims, and simsload upgrades it. so maybe teh admin user has simsload as a shortcut.

if you run simsload and pass pulsar in as a parameter, it will check for an upgrade then run sims after, it's a tad slower, but will save you hassle.

"C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe"

what are they for?

i know i got special instructions from schoolcomms to reinstall teh client app to make it fit in better with Autumn release, but it seems that Capita have foreseen the end of the world and think that all the third parties wont survive so have dropped menu items after Jan!

To be honest, it's a pretty good release, there don't appear to be any big issues. Schoolcomms works from the PC if you run it direct anyway, not sure how much impact the exams and fsm ones have, but no other biggies really.

The notes on SupportNet say that the SchoolComms patch should be applied to existing summer / autumn installs, but i'm on summer and my focus link is there and working fine as is the link from student screen. Both launch schoolcomms and ask for login, but they are not there on the test server on autumn, so it is only the autumn install that has the issue.
