I've seen the Kiwi's driving!!

 

To be fair it's more like four wheel driving given the state of our roads, or more accurately small patches of tarmac in a sea of dirt and loose gravel depressions (in the same way the grand canyon is a depression).

Upgraded recently from my MG ZT-T, to a 2007 Chrysler 300c (V8, 5.7L). I do very little mileage really, and it's all for pleasure, so the low mpg doesn't bother me..

love it! nearly went for a BMW 540i (4.4 V8) recently but as the tourings are super rare with that engine and it was a bit rough I ended up with a 530i touring M Sport instead. Still enough oomph to be fun.

Saying that my daily driver is a 2004 Smart ForTwo and that is fun in an entirely different way!

And the lights back on... this time it's both flashing and staying on so I think I have two problems. I sense a "why don't I have a rubbish car" thread coming on..

 

P.S It's the original error (ER 0209) + one that appears to indicate a low battery (DTC 9318 - Battery Voltage less than 10v), anyone with a bit of car know how able to answer some questions...

 

Would the current weather potentially have cause my low voltage? (and will it go away when it dries up?)...

 

Would a low voltage cause the idle to be slightly off? (only slightly it's not struggling but unlike before I can feel the idle through my pedals and it doesn't feel consistent)

 

Since I took the car back I've heard a random knock, which only happens completely randomly rarely in quick succession (two knocks in ten seconds happened only once) but usually just the once every 20 minutes or so (it sounds just like someone knocking on the bonnet), any ideas? Anything lose that the mechanic might not have put back correctly that can potentially cause this?

 

p.s The first error code was the emission unit, which I was told was caused by a misfunctioning solenoid that measures the exhaust fumes.

Yes batteries report lower in cold temps (but its not that cold atm) but under 10v is too low and really needs replacing unless its a charging issue like a duff alternator Edited by sted

If you have low voltage I would not trust any error code to be genuine until a stable stable voltage of ~12.7 or above is achieved.

 

what car is it and who told you it was error 0209 as it's rather unusual if it's a stock OBD2 code.

A solenoid is an actuator , not a sensor. If that was their exact words then they don't know what they are talking about.

Because they don't have test data, and no car apart from possibly volvo had ISOfix.

 

A basic Britax or similar seat should fit any car ( which is a bonus if you need to put it in a family/friends car ) Don't get sucked into the Designer brands.

Please could someone tell me why baby seat manufactures don't list car models going back to 1998 how do you choose the car seat?

 

 

There pretty much standard and just use the belts to secure a fit... I got mine from kiddie care (there own brand) and it's perfect in any car (good from new born until 4). When he was younger though we used a Graco all in one as it offered a better seating position and a snugger fit, as well as allowing us to move from pram to car without waking him up. The graco also came with a base to leave in the car which made the transfer easier.

Sorry @twin--turbo the solenoid was me trying to be smart (they didnt tell me what it did just the they replaced it as the error code came from the emission unit, i put 2 and 2 together to make 5)..

 

I'm getting these errorcodes from the dash unit, as I havent got a self tester (although that and a haynes manual are on the christmas list)

 

P.S It's a 53 plate Mondeo ST with fsh and 43k on the clock so shouldn't be having any major issues

I've seen lots of electrical faults get posted this past month on the Pug forum I frequent, just about all of them have been battery related, coinciding with the colder damp weather.

It might only have 43k and FSH but it's still almost ten years old and parts wear by age as well as mileage.

ST TDCi? They take a good kick from a battery to get started on cold mornings, been there, done it, got the t-shirt

No it's the ST220, 3ltr petrol. It's got no problems starting and none of the electrics are showing signs of the battery being low will have to see what the mechanics say but I think something else might be at play.

 

Anyway checked her in to the garage today so will see what they say, best case is what they did before was wrong and they'll do all the new work for free or reduced cost..

I would not trust the DASH codes.

 

Sounds like they probably replaced the EPT (or equiv).

Gotta love that Knight Rider, TT. Nothing like some Gas Guzzlers! ;) I like the look of the old Ford Mustang (as in, 'Bullitt' era)

 

+: I could never see myself in one of those pickup trucks they all have.. it'd just look wrong on so many levels.

if i could afford/be bothered to import though id get a current (or as close as i could afford) falcon fpv from australia/new zealand correct hand drive just in k's not mph and i suspect the v8 id want would rob me blind in fuel lol

The turbo V6 is faster anyway and has better balance than the 8, the only thing you get with the 8 is a better sound and a lesser car. They are still somewhat primitive from an automotive point of view though.
