Aha cars and bikes. Pretty much where all my money has gone over the years.

It was my birthday the end of October.

 

I bought myself a Z3, just like I promised myself.

 

2001 model, 52,400 + change miles, 1.9 Litre, British Racing Green (BMW call it Forest Green), beige leather interior. If I ever remember to bring my pc cable in, I'll post the photos that I have on my phone.

If you have a glorious warm sunny day, make sure you put the hood down.

 

The number of convirtables I see on warm sunny days with the hood up far outstrips the ones down. WHY buy one!

 

 

 

In fact make it every day, we had a Uni Lecturer who drove a Morgan ( it was an old one even in 1994) every day, it had no hood. He just had a flying hat and gogles.

I've been really tempted on a few fresh, sunny days since I've had it, but I don't have the flying jacket yet, or the Leslie Phillips flat-cap. The roof has always been soaking wet too, and for some reason, I don't want to fold it down and put it away wet. I have this idea it might start to smell, like washing that's been left in the machine for too long before being taken out to dry and air.

 

But rest assured, come the Spring, I'll have it off at every opportunity.

Mehhh, I've had it all since I bought it......Hairdresser's Car, Tart's Car, Girl's Car........you name it.

 

Mostly from people who have really off-the-wall, rebellious, hair-raising, edge-of-the-envelope family saloons.

 

I wanted one, I bought the exact year, mileage, colour and interior that I wanted and I'm really happy with it.

 

And you know what they say...................'Sticks and stones can break my bones, but whips and chains excite me'.

 

Or have I got that wrong somewhere?

This is my pride and joy:

 

 

I'm 19 and have wanted one for ages but due to being an apprentice couldn't justify it. In September, once I was qualified and put on a better paid contract I decided to loan the money and reward myself for the hard work the I had put in.

 

I also own Maria:

 

 

She is my other and more important pride and joy. She was my first car, but have owned her since I was 12. She was in a worse state than that when I got her and have spent quite a bit of money on her and in my opinion looks pretty good, most of the work was carried out by myself and as a result of that I now have a very good understanding of mechanics .. so a really good thing to get my teeth into at a young age. She has been in the garage for quite a while now as I took her off the road and got something a little more sensible for the travelling that I was doing. Since then she has had even more money spent on her to make her even better.

Upgraded recently from my MG ZT-T, to a 2007 Chrysler 300c (V8, 5.7L). I do very little mileage really, and it's all for pleasure, so the low mpg doesn't bother me..

Indeed, your car will have been called all of those things....but I rarely see women driving them! Must just be the area that I live!

 

P.S. I like my "hair-raising, edge of the envelope family" estate car! Had my time with cars that I "WANT".... Now I have a car that I NEED!

Parking on my drive is a pain at the moment as I still have the Mondeo to get rid of. 6 Vehicles and a trailer tent in residence at the moment....

I had a facelift 2001 Z3 ( only 1.8 though ) , and imo is much better than a z4 . Mine once got called a hair dressers car by a kid who couldn't even drive ( i set him straight though ) . Got rid of it eventually

I've had the same with a Pug 205 CTI, MX-5 and a couple of MGFs. They usually come from people like you describe, and they have no idea of the fun and freedom these cars give you.
