Relativly small school here..... 30 Desktops 2 Servers 90 laptops 10 Ipod touches 170 students 35 staff Just me

Okay so the scenario is.. We have had our website built (before i started) the guy has been waiting for details of hosting so he can install the cms database... I have rung RM and there going to ring back but whilst im waiting for htem is there anything i can do to get ahead? Because i dont understand what part of the hosting he needs to get into to get access to install his CMS Database? Thanks

Hi everyone, I have only been in this job 4 days..... my netgear wirless controller has gone down, its not connecting to the network, i cant access the gui, its not powering any of my access points either..... What can i do ?! im so stuck and got loads of teachers on my back!

ICT Technician in a special school. with 70 workstations and 30 laptops. my new network is 75 Laptops, and 30 workstations. 2 servers 1x Rm Curric 1x Vanilla Server 2008 Admin server

Hey guys, Thanks, I am definantly up for the job, it is only me as the ICT staff.... Not managing anyone! I will look at the technet site in due course. I am fulling confident its just i want to be ready to go in and make the best impression first off! Ive decided not to take any training for at least 6 months. Sorry for making it sound like im not going to be good for the job but like i say its just my idea of getting ready to be the best at the job! In terms of knowing Ad i have used it in my current job that im leaving at the end of the month, I took over the role of Network Manager herer for 4 months whilst the currently NM was off sick. So ive learnt a bit and self taught, Like ive said previous ive got a VMware machine running at home with a mini network setup on there of 3 machines ( Sever and 2 clients) I am adding users etc and now moving on to Group Policies. Hope this helps and shows that i am acutally not a jobs worth lol Cheers again

Wow brilliant, Just found out because i havent seen my serve room etc, but i only have a desk in the staff room as my base.... maybe look into getting a office/room to do some work in permenantly?

Hi everyone new here!! , So i went to an interview yesterday for a job as ICT systems Manager & Facilitator, i havent looked round the school and at the state of the network yet but i will be looking into it hopefully next week! Heres my job description: Maintain and update the school website, including weekly awards and work. To maintain a good knowledge of school ICT systems and procedures. Troubleshoot in cases where ICT is not functioning and it is within your capabilities. Access and liaise with support partners. Liaise with ICT subject leader. Provide support to teachers and children in ICT lessons (4 afternoons a week). Produce DVDs and still photos of school events when required for display, use in publicity, etc. Data insertion into Target Tracker when required. Support for teaching staff and TAs when problems occur with accessing data. Troubleshoot technical problems in school office. Backup of assessment data for transition to KS3. Procurement and purchasing of new desktops and laptops for students and staff. Acting as a point of contact for ICT related contractors who are working onsite. Maintaining and upgrading physical network infrastructure, including cabling and patch panels. Ensure that the disposal of ICT related equipment complies with the WEEE directive. Keep detailed records of school licensing information to ensure legal compliance. Produce E-Safety resources for parents. Develop hardware, software and the network solutions throughout the school, to meet curriculum and administrative needs. Develop, implement and monitor the schools practices for data protection, internet use, e-mail, security and ICT resource management. Plan and budget for ICT systems development and routine expenditure. Develop curriculum resources to facilitate the use of ICT within the school. Develop the use of a virtual learning environment with the school’s stakeholders The duties above are neither exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the Headteacher to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade. Anyway few questions- Firstly - I know that they use CC4 RM so do i ask them to send me on a training course for that asap? Second - once i have the budget, how do i plan it? im only 20 and planning budgets is a first for me? Third - What sort of things do i put in a E-saftey poster/leaflet? any good websites?
