MY acer n30 pda finally went to day screen cracked

 

I tell you what lost with out it. Now trying to find a supplier who wants to throw in free pda when we order something

mines tomtom, helpdesk notifcation, calender, email archive, contacts list, remote control for school devices, msn messenger, active task list, file browser for remote shares, rdp.

 

basically my world, cant cope without it the days i leave it at home.

I'd use one if we had a wireless network everywhere in the school, but cut off it just seems not that useful to me.

Been god send even with out wireless across whole school as strawberry said it runs my life.

 

Calendar is main thing but really am at a lost But good news one of suppliers might come through for us

you can still synchronise, and use the connection on any machine using the usb connection. but the wireless is a big bonus ( unless you can afford a hefty gprs bill!)

We have dozens of iPaq's left over from when a company doing wireless rego thing at our place went bust.. I wasn't here at the time but obviously it was another pie in the sky project

 

If you're interested in having one for nowt, they're HP iPaq's 4xxx something or other. I use one for my calendar and stuff

I use my PDA all the time as a calander tool, and for when I make notes for meetings.

 

I have just bought an Blackberry Pearl, and I am loving it for the ability to check my e-mails anywhere.

The main thing that I would use it for is email and connecting to GLPI (well, a mini-front end version of it). I barely use my calendar...

I must admit love my PDA to bits, my contacts, notes, diary and TomTom all in one. Cannot use email on it due to syncing wiv 2 PCs

mines a acer n35 and hasnt got wirless i might invest in one of those wirless cards that go in the card port

I've got an HP RX3715 - the flashy media one with the camera etc.

 

Most of the media stuff is quite crappy - streaming music from PC doesn't work with iTunes, camera is only 1.3 Megapixel without focus and saving camera movie clips to an SD card crashes the OS! The only media thing that's any good is the Nevo Home Control - basically an infinite universal remote - which is pretty cool.

 

But the media stuff aside, it's great. Built-in WiFi combined with WiFiFoFum software is a godsend when wireless networks go up the wall! The screen is really bright and sharp and it connects to the internet via dial-up on my mobile - very slow (9.6kbps!) but it comes out of free minutes rather than paying O2 £4 a Mb to check mail!

I've got an Acer N50 premium, had it about 2 years and the best toy I have ever bought, like said by the guys above, it is like losing your right arm when you leave it at home. I too use mine as an IR controller for the Projectors, DVD players and other AV equipment at the college, very very useful for that, as well as the PPC version of VNC as with the wi fi, I can still handle desktop support whilst walking down the corridor via PPC remote terminal services.

 

I use mine for the normal stuff to like, email, MSN, contacts, calendar, DVD player with the 7" screen via the 4gb SD card from eBuyer!

 

It is some kind of un-written rule, techy's just have to have PDA's.

Well update a supplier came through for us in major major way they had pda they used for something for about 4 months and had finished with it. Only thing wrong with it was the CD and manuals where missing (not a big loss) ...

 

What they gave us a IPAQ 6915 seriously impressed.

 

Now just need a to find place to get cheap tomtom maps

How about these, they are PC based as appose to PPC based though. It's amazing what you remove from the kids accounts.

Thats the first time ive seen a game embedded into an excel file, very good at hiding them now aint they!

 

Edit - btw I was realy being honest when I said games only for out of work when im bored for my PDA, not an excuse to start making me look bad for playing games in hidden excel files at work lol

it should have a form of remote desktop on there somewhere, if not the vnc further up is cracking.

Another good one is the IR remote control, this allows you to add other remote controls (multiples) to make one super control. Operates via the touch screen on your PDA.
