SIMS, not FMS. Funny about the redirected connect.ini files - our SIMS clients all seem to have these as a default - even where SIMS has been freshly installed :/

Anything common between your FMS Server/clients, ie - what about the actual network cable connected to your server. Then maybe have a look at your uplinks. You'd be surprised at the troubles a duff network cable can cause.

Ahh. I see it doesn't work if you put it in your central connect.ini file, but works if using it locally. Is there anyway this can be made to work if using your s:\sims\connect.ini file?

Hmm. I've copied n pasted that connect ini exactly as it is. WHat I have noticed is when I add the [sIMSDatabases] bit, the SIMS login box does increase in size slightly (as if the dropdown box should be there) but it isn't. I've tried changing the screen resolution as there was a similar issue a while back. This is on windows7 - is everyone else who is working on XP?

Shouldn't have a problem with 50meg.. assuming that's what you will actually get and they don't bastardise the link. Try it and see, otherwise you might have to go down the TS/RemoteApp routes. Wouldn't bother with SLG for SIMS... it's great for parents/students etc but probably lacks functionality for "proper" staff use.

Thanks for that. I've just tried modifying my connect.ini file with this however I'm not getting the drop-down box to select another database. Take it this doesn't work anymore with the current version of SIMS?

Like others have said, also consider the netgear GS724TP. All ports are gigabit and you get 2 shared SFP uplink ports. You will get upto 802.3af class 4 PoE on all 24 copper ports. You will get a lifetime warranty although I believe this excludes PSU's and the fans. Probrand/ITindex are doing them for £340 + VAT Also bear in mind if you are using the fibre uplinks, for HP's you will be tied to using their tranceivers which are considerably more expensive than the generic ones you can use in Netgears (although you can buy netgear branded ones if you are particularly anal about your tranceivers) We have 2 dozen of the 48 port version of these switches at all our edges and they run sweet. Those who are cussing netgear probably got stung by using consumer products on their network

That's shocking for a HP product.. even our "consumer grade" (according to some on this forum) Netgear prosafe core switches have been up for 500+ days and still coping with beastly WDS images over multicast Seriously Hope the firmware sorts it for you.

For anyone considering building access (namely Paxton) then I would suggest giving Auto Time Systems based in Wigan a call. They've recently "Paxtonified" 10 doors for us, and Im pretty sure they're going to be doing more in future (including a lift!) They aren't the quickest installers but they do nice, tidy work and by gum the guys know their stuff. The Paxton kit is just pure amazing to boot as well Just wish I could persude the bean counters to Paxtonise our office

If you have a filtering policy agreed by management, why are you now tossing it all away? Had a similar request not too long ago.. checked with management and they agreed not to allow the request. Doesn't matter if it's for a short period of time.. policy is policy.

Can CSV's be used with FC also? Reason I ask is I am looking to do a similar thing as the OP but cannot stand the thought of having one server sitting there doing nothing incase the other node or component fails. I was thinking of setting up a failover cluster, and zoning say 2 LUNS from the SAN to each host. This way we can spread VM's between 2 nodes and if a node fails the other can continue to provide service. Is this possible or should I only do pure failover? Do I need a witness disk if using CSV? Very odd - isn't Compaq the consumer arm of HP? Have to say our experience has been totally the opposite - HP (business) support always spot on, whereas Dell, well their account managers didn't even want to know when we had a tender for 100 desktop units My only gripe with HP to date is their dodgy formatter boards in some 2015s/2055s >.<

Is anyone running a DS3400 (or a DS3x series) in a hyper-v failover configuration with 2 or more nodes? How did you configure the SAN? Specifically I' d like to know how must the SAN's drives be exposed to the 2 nodes? Thanks

Have you tried a different browser? Thought I had a similar one recently.. nothing getting logged in smoothwall anywhere. Turns out it was a bug in IE (or a recent IE update) that broke rendering on some websites

Has anyone had any issues with the enterprise standalone installer? When I deploy it the normal way via AD, it just hangs for about 20/30 minutes at "installing managed software google chrome" etc. before timing out and not installing. On further inspection it seems as though the installer is checking for updates. In our environment, unless you are logged in you can't get out to the internet. Is there anyway this behaviour can be changed so the installer doesn't check for updates? Seems a pretty bad flaw.. suprised no one else has mentioned this? :/

If you do a quick search there are plenty of topics on this. In answer to your question, if you have a 2003R2/2008/2008R2 file server the easiest way to go is just use FSRM to block desktop.ini on your home drives without notification

Sorry to butt in here unannounced. I've got the Spring 2011 ISO to do a fresh install. The release docs say this is a "main" release which I understand is the only sort of release you can fresh install from, however it appears to be an upgrade release. When I try running it it comes up with an error saying "SIMS.ini file does not exist in the windows folder." - course it doesn't, it's a fresh install for goodness sakes What's the last release I can use to do a fresh install? Sounds good Is your fibre on site or by Campus I'm guessing you've got to run it via BT or something? Check your distances - if it's 500m or less (might even be 300m) on OM3 you should be able to get away with short range tranceivers

L3 at the core, L2 at the edges. We have a mix of GS748TP's and GSM7224/7248's at the edge, these are all getting replaced with GS748TP's. Not that there are any issues with the GSM7224/48's, it's just we have a lot of PoE devices such as phones, CCTV and Wireless AP's that we've outgrown them. And we have tonnes of PoE bricks in those cabs :| About 1500 lusers here...

Hmm interesting. It seems this is only happening to some of our wireless laptops - atheros WIFI cards seem fine, I am only seeing this error on intel WIFI laptops. Maybe my issue is unrelated to this topic.. sorry.
