In Office Music/Radio

It's Spotify all the way for me... it used to be Radio 2, but I started getting too wound up with the subjects they talked about midday, so gave it up!

 

Quite a wide-range of music, and often a conversation starter... some staff even pop in just to chill out for a while...

+1 For Planet Rock and a bit of 6 Music as well. My car radio accidentally went on Radio 1 yesterday. I felt nausious after 30 seconds. It was like having your IQ dragged out by force and stamped on repeatedly.

 

Not just me who cant stand radio1...

 

Normaly between Radio 2 or my music from my car. (usb stick)

Can't. In the library in one school, and in the other my office backs on to a Year 5 classroom. If they are out I try to play something - usually spotify, classic FM, R2, R3 or my own stuff - which could be anything eg music from a certain @Domino to Frank Turner, Metallica, RHCP, Led Zep,Deep Purple, Punk, Foos,The Wanted, etc etc etc. And the odd bit of Gregorian Chant!

It's not loud you can barely hear it, it just takes the edge off the monotonous drone

I prefer Vine to the self satisfied ramblings of a man who is clearly far too much in love with his own voice that you get from Steve Wright and the idiot who co-hosts the show with him. I don't know what it is about those two but they really annoy me! On the way home, I usually turn the iPod on then turn the radio on at about fiveish when Simon Mayo comes on.

During free lessons I have whatever is on my phone - currently listening to the Tron Legacy soundtrack (and have done for months). I find it relaxing. Otherwise it will be Jarre, Einaudi or something else peaceful.

 

If I am working in a loud area then I will plug in my headphones and listen to the music. Nobody minds here. I have had music on in the classroom when the pupils are working (mostly ALevel pupils). This tends to be Jarre - nothing too loud our beaty. The kids often ask can they have their music on. On rare occasions I have let them - especially if it is a new album that isn't too loud or beaty for a classroom.

 

Norah Jones is always received well in my alevel classes as is Alicia Keys.

 

I love music when I'm working.

Very true, I do find myself saying to the radio 'Steve, it was fine calling it "The Big Show" in 1986, but not now'

I also find it easier to work when i have music on and sometimes helps me concentrate more as i can block everything out if i need to. Plus it cuts out the drone of computer fans that are constantly on in our office. We have an office radio on with the local station tuned in, but when i get bored of the presenters constantly talking i like to stick my headphones on and listen to my own music. Usually with just one headphone in though so i can listen to anything that might be going on in the office.

I listen to XFM. Traffic & travel is obviously about London but they play a good mix of music that I like. They're currently playing Big Audio Dynamite's E=MC2!

We have Radio 1 on in the office all day. in the summer will be either my ipod or kiss fm and it will be turned up a lot louder as well!!

if im at the opffice i generally throw on absolute 80s (sometimes 90s for variety) if im doing lots of lift and carry type stuff i will sometimes jam headphones in and listen to whatevers on my phone. Car atm is discworld "books on tape" lol gotta love having a usb port

Usually we don't but I have just procured a set of brand new not needed IWB speakers with volume control which I am going to get the brackets fitted to our office wall. I had my zen xfi connected yesterday, playing some quality mid to late eighties disco, funk, house and acid.
