Just tell us the weather!!!!!

I've attached a screen grab of the weather for Preston in the next few days. If you notice the severe weather warning at the top which seems to indicate that it will be 'custard' everywhere, when in fact it is warning of snow showers throughout most of the UK (and what constitutes 'severe' weather anyway in the Met Office's eyes? It appears that anything worse than a balmy August afternoon now gets a severe weather warning!). And below it indicates that there is to be no snow at all on Saturday and Sunday. I'd wish they'd just sort this out and actually tell us what is going to happen instead of showing all they symbols they can and hoping at least one of them will occur.

I've been tracking tomorrow's weather on Metcheck for about a week. It went down again though so it isn't fully reliable. Some models cause a VBScript error.

 

My area has snow to the north and heavy rain to the south. We are on the edge of the yellow snow warning issued by the Met Office. I am predicting lots of ice and sleet, but the mixed weather either side means a change in a few degrees could cause a big change in conditions and dump either heavy rain or a nice flurry of snow over South London.

met check mixed with meteox for 3 hour predictions tend to be quite accurate... for 3 hours ahead anyway!

I live on high ground in Surrey so it was snowing lightly when I got up and dumping big flakes by the time I got out to the car! I turned up to work with my car covered in a thick layer of snow and staff asking where the heck I live.

 

Unfortunately work greeted me with a gloomy sleet filled sky followed by snow which didn't stick due to the water on the ground. But apparently it is still snowing heavily on the high ground which will make going home fun.

I agree with the custard warnings on metcheck, we have had a few of them lately when checking the weather.

 

Got up on Saturday morning to the roads all white around here and made good use of my investment in Snow Tyres the hills were no problem around here for them, infact used them the other day to work when the minibus decided the hill might be tricky and just stopped I kept on going and it was fine

 

Looks like my investment in them will pay off with more potential snow this winter
