Not sure if this is the right place or not or if i'm duplicating an old post (can't find one),

What staffing structure do you have in your schools?

We are currently looking at having a staff restructure and I would like to know how other schools do it.

We currently have:

Head > Assist head > NM > techs.

but its looking like this might change.

This so much depends on the size of the school.

In my case it's Bursar (& HT) > NM as there's only me!

Yeah i guess so, to clarify, I'm looking at a single secondary/high school of around 1,500 pupils.

Here it's Head - IT Manager - 2 x Senior Techs (1 manges the 2 techs and does all the frontline, customer facing work, the other does all the network and server developments)

We are an academy with 1450 on roll + a special school + feeder primaries. Oh and we are all term time only + 4 weeks in the hols.

Do you have a NM? and who is his/her Line Manager?

Head > Head of IT Service (aka Director of..) > Network Manager > Technicians 1 and 2

Curriculum IT is line managed separately to whole-school/technical IT, but there is a good working relationship and cross-over

We've just been through a bit of a restructure here - so our new structure is:

SMT IT person --> ICT Manager --> Network Manager / MIS Manager --> Senior IT Technician / Executive Support Technician --> Junior IT Technician

Posted

Head > Deputy Head > NM > Technician

But to be honest, the only role the Deputy Head plays is as my line manager and carrys out my performance management. All IT issues / developments / decisions are me (NM).

Yes he does as its me :p :D

I know this place takes time up but I am indeed there for him :D

Its actually:

HT > Deputy HT > Head of DT > NM > IT Tech (and other techs and apprentice when we get to that point!)

Places where I have worked its gone as follows

Head/Principle > Deputy Head/Deputy Principle > ICT Co-ordinator/Manager (or) Bursar/Business Manager > Network Manager > Assistant/Deputy Network Manager > Senior Technician > Junior Technician > Apprentice

Some steps removed as applicable but generally that's the rule :)

Yup

They also have the title of Director of Specialism (were a Tech. College) and Faculty Director of Technology (as IT, Art, Textiles, Catering etc are under that banner) but they are head of DT as in Des Tech
