Dont people in eve online steal each others stuff that has cost real money all the time?

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen... :p

I vaguely remember reading something about a lawsuit for theft in EVE.

The poor PC version of GTA4 (excluding steam) has sold something like 800k from total sales of 25m.

GTA5 sold 2.2m in the UK alone. Nearly 15m worldwide already.

I can understand that T2 might want to make some money on consoles before everyone pirates GTA5 on PC.

Where did you get those PC sales from? Take Two don't release them as far as I can see, so they're all guesses that I can see online. Steam also don't release their sales figures normally.

FTFY.

I also have to take umbrage at the casual assertion that as soon as it is released on PC, everyone will be pirating it. cf: sales of the Witcher 2, released on Day 1 completely DRM free through gog.com. Some piracy, certainly, but also enormously popular and a megaseller.

It's great what the gog do and a shame more publishers do not take this path. In contrast you have have Ubisoft saying their PC games are 95% pirated. Ubisoft: PC Piracy Levels 95%, and 95% of Free-To-Play Users Do Not Pay | TorrentFreak

The PC does suffer from piracy (amount debatable) but it cannot be ignored and the higher price for console games will guarantee a certain level of income (how many PC games sales are in online sales when they are under 50% off).

All I said was that I can see why they'd want money in the bank before releasing on PC.

What makes you think consoles don't suffer piracy? It may not be as widespread (it is undeniable it's easier to pirate on the PC) but at the end of the day, pirates gonna pirate.

Also, online sales with massive reductions in price - well, yeah, it's almost 100% profit! The game is already made, it's sat on the distributor's server, there's no physical media so every download is almost entirely profit.

There'd be a hell of a lot less piracy if publishers were less greedy, I noticed the other day that RRP on new games is £54.99 now! If a new game cost £20, I think a lot less people would pirate.

That was always going to happen and even if they had enough servers there is still going to be bugs and stuff which the internal testing has not caught.

Leave it a week or two before trying if you want a fairly bug free experience.

As for EVE Online if you fly around with a hold full of PLEX (the only item in the game you buy with real money) in Lowsec, your just asking for trouble.

Brother was on my account today for half an hour. He said he got in fine, created a char fine, and got me £23,000.

Hm, sounds nice, even though a house costs £200,000+ and a garage costs £75,000+ lol

No issues reported so far, on our end *touches wood*

aparantly back up your single player save file before updating as it can corrupt it

There's been a few games that "corrupt" saves.

They're not actually corrupt, just incompatible with the patched game. Remove the patch and they work fine again.

While technically not corrupt like you say, still useless.

If your toilet develops a leak, you don't remove the toilet.

EDIT: also, I'm guessing this really is a case of corrupted save files, otherwise it would affect everyone and I'm sure there'd already be a few ranty messages in this thread :p

EDIT2: the more I think about it, the worse my toilet analogy is. Ok, how about "if you're locked out of your house, you don't move house." Better? Maybe not...

I'm guessing the same. Rockstar are probably trying to bypass compatibility problems by patching the save, and failing spectacularly.

It's more like a new part in your car making it unuseable, so you go back to the old part until the problem is fixed.

Or rolling back a dodgy update.

I've randomly just remembered a bit of "fun" I had this morning...

Decided to jump on the back of a moving train (careful doing that by the way, stumbling under the wheels has the expected result...) and shoot at random cars as it went to get a high wanted level going. I was on top of the frontmost section of the train and tried to jump on to the top of one of the container carriages, but slightly misjudged it. Rather than ending up dead under the train as I expected, I ended up inside the container with no way out!

I couldn't switch either, although I'm not sure if that's something to do with the glitch or just bad luck as it would make sense story-wise for me not to be able to switch at the moment.

After about 10 minutes of trying to jump at various corners and walls of the carriage to "glitch" back out of it, luckily I got a call that triggered a character switch and it dealt with itself.
